Santa, Baby is a fun theme for a cocktail party or casual get-together! The focus of this theme is the swanky, Santa-themed centerpiece, which is an easy, DIY project...

Start with inexpensive cylinder vases of varying heights and widths. Wrap each of the vases in a different, but coordinating scrapbook or high-quality gift wrap paper, then embellish with coordinating ribbon. You can also stack a tall vase on a shorter, wider vase wrapped in a different paper than the top vase to add height & interest.

For the focal vase in the group, create a “santa” look by wrapping it with red paper, adding a “belt” made from black ribbon and a paper “buckle”, 2-3 white buttons, and a small white feather or marabou boa hot-glued around the rim of the vase. (Make sure to glue the boa to the paper for easy removal later.)  Embellish your other vases with ribbon and more of the white feather boa, then fill them with sparkly glittered dry floral filler or contemporary beaded sprig spray.

One either side of the centerpiece, place a martini glass filled with small red and silver ball ornaments, and lined at the base with white feather boa. Sprinkle more of the mini ball ornaments around the centerpiece, and further embellish the entire thing with red glittered ornaments – such as the snowflake designs pictured here and available at Target.

For your table linens, start with a white tablecloth and accent with a red or lime green table runner. If your don't have a cloth runner, you can do what we did her and use gift wrapping paper to create an easy, inexpensive table runner! Create "placemats" from 12x12” sheets of the same scrapbook paper used to wrap the vases. (Scrapbook paper shown here is from American Crafts™: Tinsel, Calling Birds, and Wrapping patterns). Colored plastic utensils and cute, coordinating paper partyware – such as the "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry" design pictured here and purchased at Target) – works great for this casual theme.

To make this tablescape a little dressier,
use regular white plates, silver chargers, and red cloth napkins for your place settings. Roll the napkins and tie a small silver ball ornament around the center using white ribbon, or embellish them with a band or feather boa for a more swanky feel!
