PARTY DETAILS, as told by Lina

We really wanted an authentic look and feel for our Spanish Hacienda table. So we brought in some special pieces to make this happen! Our main highlight for our tablescape would have to be the beautiful cake! I can’t get over how detailed each layer is and the flowers add a pop of color to the table. All of the mini desserts created by A Sweet Design had a Spanish flair; here is a list of the items that were created for this table:

  • Mexican Wedding Cookies
  • Tres Leches Cups
  • Spanish Tile Sugar Cookies
  • Mini Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes
  • Mini Churro Cupcakes

All of the desserts and main cake sat on cake stands that can be purchased at various places and can now be rented directly from A Sweet Design for your custom sweet’s table.
For our backdrop, we incorporated the bright colors of the table by hanging Papel Picado, “a decorative craft made out of paper cut into elaborate designs”. I was able to find Papel Picado at my local Party Store, Party City, you can also order it from places online and have it custom made for your event.

The beverages on our table are latin sodas, Jarritos, which you can find at your local supermarket for .99 cents a bottle. To tie in the colors, I added in some blue and white paper straws that I purchased from Shop Sweet Lulu. We also added in some white candles on the right and left sides of the tables. These are great for an evening event! All of the desserts sat on textured, burlap linen that we rented from Designer Specialty Linens.

It’s very important to label your sweets so your guests know what they are about to taste. With the help from our calligrapher, Calligraphy Katrina, she was able to create mini labels for each item, as well as menu of all of the items and we placed it in a vintage frame.

Shopping for latin candy for this table was lots of fun and when we found candy that matched our color scheme, we had to snag them. We placed them in mini mason jars and tied off each jar with a strip of twine. The mini mason jars were from Overstock.com. The flowers and plants were placed in colored glass vases and really completed the look of the table.

We had such a fun time designing this table. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

As a Mexican-American, it is so refreshing to see something like this gorgeous table that isn’t stereotypical and repetitive. Thank you for not adding margaritas, chili peppers and maracas. The Jarritos were an awesome touch! Well done!
