WEDDING DETAILS, as told by  Kristeen

Molly and Joe were married on July 9, 2011 at the Women’s Twentieth Century Club in Eagle Rock, CA.  It was a wedding full of vintage charm and DIY projects that showcased the couple’s personality.  One of my favorite parts of the day was the song that Molly’s sister sang during the ceremony.  It was the same song that was sung at Molly’s parent’s wedding and that Molly had performed at her sister’s wedding.

From the bride:

Before we even got engaged, Joe and I knew that we’d have our wedding in Los Angeles, because that is where our life together truly began. We wanted the wedding to represent us as a couple, and a few of our favorite things about LA. That made some decisions really easy, like the taco truck. And it wasn’t just any taco truck, but Taco Zone, which parked down the street from our house in Echo Park where we lived together for 5 years. Music has always been really important to us a couple. After our first day hanging out after I moved to LA, Joe made me 3(!) mixed CDs to woo me, so we knew that we wanted to make mixed cds as favors, with each song reminding us of some phase of our relationship – they eventually turned into our escort cards too! Mostly our community is so important to us, both friends and family, and we wanted to celebrate with them in a way that was truly us – low key, welcoming, and a good time.

We picked the venue itself because we love to host house parties, and we knew this would be the most important house party of our lives!  We wanted it to feel cozy and intimate.  We have such talented friends, and their help made everything that much more special.  A groomsman drew the custom cover art for the mix CDs, a bridesmaid did the table florals, one of our best men made the homemade salsa for the tables, a good friend made delicious cupcakes, two other good friends made cookies, my aunt made the table runners, girlfriends and I made the napkins, a photographer friend did our engagement shots, friends who played the music at the ceremony – and I always forget something because so many people helped!  It was such an amazing group effort, we felt so loved throughout the entire process.  Oh, and the homebrewed beer! Joe and his male soulmate, Tyler, have been brewing for almost 5 years, and they made 40 gallons of homebrew for the wedding.  Everything had meaning for us, down to the papel picado.
