PARTY DETAILS, as told by Danielle

This Barnyard 2nd Birthday Party was created and styled for the daughter of a very close friend. The party took place on a family farm in Ohio. The “vision” for the dessert table was based around a pie cooling in a farmhouse window (this is what I envision when I think visiting my grandparent’s farm as a child). The white barn and fences created the perfect backdrop for the dessert table and there was plenty of room for the children to run and play in a very relaxed/fun atmosphere.

We decided on a color palette of red and yellow – using gingham, stripes & lots of burlap. The old barn window was salvaged from a local hardware store and the many of the baskets, barrels and hay were all available right on location. To make the party a little more feminine we decorated the table with a rosette banner and added handmade burlap/fabric rosettes to the baskets.

For the dessert table we decided to tackle a few items on our own, including the mixed berry pie, chick & egg cake balls, apple cake pops, cupcakes and cherry pie cookies. The beautiful gingham & cow pattern oreos were from Sweeties by Kim and the Peach Cookies were made by a local bakery (so many people thought these were real peaches until they got up close, they even had a rum/nut pit inside)

  • Mixed Berry Pie
  • Apple Cake Pops
  • Chick and Egg Cake Balls
  • Gingham Oreos
  • Caramel Apples
  • Caramel Corn
  • Piggies in the Mud (Chocolate Pudding)
  • Spiced Carrot Cupcakes
  • Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
  • “Peach” Cookies (made to look like real peaches)
  • Cherry Pie Cookies
  • Moo-Oreos & Milk

Hi Heather! These cookies were SO EASY…the details are in the link below, I just replaced the apples w/ cherry pie filling (and didn’t use caramel, cinnamon or nutmeg) – ENJOY!

[…] Last July I had the opportunity to style a birthday party for the daughter of a very close friend.  The theme was “Down on the Farm” and we wanted to keep the feel rustic but feminine.  Red gingham, yellow stripes & burlap accented by sunflowers and paper rosettes set the tone for this Fresh & Fun Farm Birthday Celebration.
