Holiday Fiesta Party Ideas {Eat, Drink, and Be Cran-Brrr-Rita!}
If you haven’t hosted or attended a fiesta-inspired holiday get-together before, now is the perfect time to change all that… because this theme makes for such a fun party! I threw a “glitzy holiday fiesta” myself last year, and while it definitely made for a super fun night, I will admit that it was also a LOT of work to put together since there were so many details involved (even the piñatas got a coat of gold spray paint!).
So this year, I thought it would be nice to come up with a more casual (and stress-free) spin on the holiday fiesta concept, focusing on just 3 key creative elements – drink, appetizer, centerpiece:
I had fun dreaming this up and hope you’re able to have some fun with it too! To make that a little easier, I’m also giving away the printables featured here as a free download below. Enjoy! :)
1. SIGNATURE DRINK: Bud Light Lime Cran-Brrr-Rita®
For cocktails, it doesn’t get much easier than pour-and-serve, right?! The limited edition Bud Light Lime Cran-Brrr-Rita® just became available earlier this month, and it’s the perfect flavor – and color! – for a holiday fiesta. It’s also super tasty, which is very important, of course. ;) Just pour over lots of ice, garnish with a lime, and you’re good to go.
2. APPETIZER: Spicy Cranberry Salsa (served with lime-dusted chips)
No fiesta would be complete without chips and salsa, but a holiday version calls for a festive twist… like this tasty Spicy Cranberry Salsa that I first stumbled on right here.
You’ll need to do a little produce chopping and break out the food processor, but in general this recipe is super easy to make and yields a very generous amount of fresh salsa. Here’s a little peek at the process:
I just love all that color!
For the lime flavored tortilla chips… I recommend just picking those up at your grocery store, unless you’re feeling extra spunky and want to make your own.
3. CENTERPIECE: Fiesta Lime Snowmen + Cranberry Snow
Sure… you see a lot of little snowman decorations at this time of year, but how often do you see a snowman made out of limes? … and ALSO wearing a tiny sombrero? That’s what I thought. ;)
Surprising guests with something unexpected is one of my very favorite things to do at any party, and this lime snowman display definitely fit the bill! They’re actually super easy to make, and you can download the printables I designed for this centerpiece right here. The mini “BRRR” banner, mini sombreros, frosty drinks sign, and 4×6 FIESTA sign are all included.
FIESTA LIME SNOWMEN – DIY TUTORIAL
***
For each snowman, you’ll need:
- 3 key limes
- 3 small toothpicks (clipped to about 2/3 length)
- bamboo skewer
- mini paper sombrero
- hot glue
- something to trim the toothpicks with, such as a wire cutter
Instructions:
1. Slide the 3 limes onto the top of a bamboo skewer to form a snowman shape, then insert 2 toothpicks for the arms.
2.(Leave the extra bamboo on the bottom – you’ll need it to insert the snowman into your display.)
3.Next, hot glue a toothpick to the back of a paper sombrero, then insert into the top lime so it looks like the snowman is wearing the sombrero.
4.Tie a piece of baker’s twine to the snowman’s arms and hot glue a mini banner panel to the twine.
Optional: To make things look extra festive, add some fine craft glitter to the paper elements first! I used a small paintbrush dipped in school glue to apply the glitter in this example.
Display on a bed of cranberries & artificial snowflakes. Line the snowmen up so that the banners collectively read “BRRR”.
Hope this inspires you to create your own little holiday fiesta this year – and find a fun excuse to eat, drink, and be CRAN-BRRR-Y! Couldn’t resist. ;)
