Note/Update: A while back, I worked on some recipe videos for Krusteaz^® that featured their new flatbread mixes, and this post originally included one of them – a Pear & Gorgonzola Flatbread recipe (pictured above). Unfortunately, Krusteaz no longer makes those mixes, so all of that content is gone. This particular recipe was my favorite of the bunch, though! You can search for similar recipes online – I’d still recommend it as a festive party appetizer!

6 Gold & White DIY Holiday Party Ideas

1. “POSITIVE” PAINTED PEARS

I kept the look of these painted pears and their printable paper leaves simple so that the positive sentiments on the leaves would really stand out. They’re painted white (with standard craft paint), and a few were also color-blocked with metallic gold spray paint. The leaves are attached with small dabs of hot glue.

2. PARTY FLAGS

Next up is one of my personal staples… party flags! You can attach them to toothpicks, straws, or bamboo skewers (to create drink stirrers).

3. FRAMED PRINT + PICTURE FRAME TRAY

I love displaying framed prints on buffets or dessert tables, and the simple “let’s eat” message on this 8×10 sign means it will work well for either one. :)

I also designed some decorative party silhouettes, cut them out, and used them to customize a couple of large picture frames! These frames were used as serving trays for the appetizers. The polka dot design used under the silhouettes is gift wrap from Paper Source.

4. FESTIVE APPETIZER PICKS

Toothpicks + those sparkly little styrofoam balls that are easy to find (in several colors) at craft stores during the holiday season = super cute & EASY appetizer picks. 🙌

5. PARTY GARLANDS

DIY garlands are another party staple for us, and I used 2 types of them here:

• A mini tabletop garland made from sparkly ribbon cut into little flags ✂️
• Paper circle garlands made from printable patterned paper, fishing wire, and 2 sizes of circle craft punches. The fishing wire is “sandwiched” between to party circles to make the garland double-sided.

6. GOLD VASE FILLER

I needed something to cover the green floral foam I used to fill the vases but didn’t have time to run to the store before we shot the video. SO, I looked around the house and found extra bags of lima beans in the pantry + gold spray paint in the garage… 🤔

Totally random solution, I know, but it actually worked out great! I love how the golden lima beans look. You just never know what will do the trick when you’re in a pinch. 😉
