PARTY DETAILS, as told by Shannon

My first decision was to focus on the romance in the Harry Potter series, and the quote from Dumbledore asking Snape about loving Harry’s mother (spoiler alert! haha!) “After all this time? Always” was the the sweetest part. I used that as the backdrop for the dessert table and chose to stick with natural colors versus the traditional gothic look HP is known for.

We filled the dessert table with all sorts of desserts, starting with a three layer cake with fondant decorations made by Katie Gumerson, chocolate covered pretzel “wands” by How Sweet is it by Melissa and lots of fun Harry Potter themed candies for the guests to take home. Lots of owls, birdcages and floating candles accessorized the table.

Then I moved on to the centerpieces, where I designated each table a certain class at Hogwarts. Thrift and dollar store pieces brought each class to life with candles, silver trays and books. I used potion label printables from HWTM contributor Jessica as well as book covers found here. We sacrificed one book for the sake of cute book page table runners :)

The ladies played “Find the Groom” where each had an envelope filled with a tux-clad Harry Potter character. One lucky person had the groom’s head on a tux and won a prize! They also played the Price is RIght game but instead of guessing prices on household cleaning supplies they guessed the prices of candles, witch hazel and butter (beer). It was fun putting a HP twist on traditional shower games and the guests all loved it.

My third grade son just finished all the Harry Potter books so I want to throw him (and my daughter) a Harry Potter themed Halloween party. I am totally stealing some of your wonderful ideas here!
    Thank you,
    Rebecca

What a great take on the HP theme! Where did you find your sorting hat center piece?

I was wondering where you got the stencils for the letters on the signs, or did you use a certain font?
