Black & White and Sweet All Over! (27 photos)
This was a fun and chic baby shower that was just as cute as it was sweet! The modern mama-to-be wanted a sophisticated sweet shoppe shower. Fun pom mom tulle "cotton candy" and parfait "treats" were just some of the added touches. Black and white-striped tablecloths and details add a level of sophistication for the arrival of a little girl! Best of all, is the creative use of bargain items, to look super chic!
The inspiration for the black and white came from the black and white umbrella from ballarddesigns.com, and the black apothecary beverage dispenser from TJ Maxx/Homegoods that I already had on-hand. I thought that the addition of the black and white striped flocked taffeta fabric that I found in the Los Angeles Garment district was the perfect find! From there, I started adding all the pink, purple and blue accents. I made the pompoms myself, after doing some research online, and for the centerpieces, I cut down bamboo sticks, and hot glued them into the center of the pom pom. The glass vases that pompoms are in, are actually the jars used for the favors, with a candlestick holder glued with glass glue to the bottom. Both items were from the dollar store. I threw some glass pebbles in the base (also from the dollar store), and the look was complete! I used parfait glasses on silver trays, with one large dahlia or mum in the glass. I put two cute little straws in each glass to look like an ice cream sundae. small glass votives completed the look for the table. The glass votives, silver trays, and parfait glasses were also from the dollar store.
For each place setting, there was a cupcake holder with a sweet three-layered pink, purple and blue cupcake, I made with the recipe modified from http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/taste-a-rainbow-cupcakes-842128/. They were placed inside black laser-cut cupcake holders and clear cupcake stands from orientaltrading.com.
The candy table had a combination of so many fun sweet treats. My favorites were the chocolate-covered marshmallows, and the cake pops, both of which I made myself! The glass jars, vases, and silver trays were a combination of thrift store, dollar store, and Wal-Mart finds. The fun black fabric was also a Los Angeles Garment District find. The cute little favor jars were from Dollar Tree. The vinyl banner for the bar was from One Day Signs in Encinitas
This was a wonderful day, with beautiful weather, too! Best of all, the mommy-to-be was overjoyed on her special day! I may not be a professional party planner, but I sure had a great time creating this party for my wonderful friend!
