How to Style a “Midnight Sparkle” Bubbly Bar

Quick Jump To » Comments

Navy & Gold Champagne Bubbly Bar

Cheers to New Year’s Eve! I know that LOTS of us are fans of the bubbly year-round, but if there was ever a “perfect excuse” for champagne, this is it. 😉🥂

Champagne bars are also great for bridal showers, milestone birthdays, and other big moments, too. So… with that in mind, I designed a bubbly bar layout here that you can easily recreate for all sorts of occasions!

Just stick to the same styling concepts (even the backdrop balloons!), but swap in colors, textures, and mixer flavors that match your theme.

Here are the DIY details…

1. Create Table “Zones”

Organize your table into left/right/middle (or 1/2/3) zones. Each zone should have a front and back. This one is organized by:

  • Champagne & flutes on the left
  • Mixers & fruit garnishes in the middle.
  • Bubbly Bar Sign & candy garnishes on the right.

2. Choose Your Mixers

Mixers are what actually turn your bubbly station into a “bar”. 😉

I went for 3 flavors – all by Master of Mixes – that work well with champagne and with the “Midnight Sparkle” color palette/theme:

  • COLLINS Mixer
Lemon is one of those flavors that just kinda goes with everything… including champagne! I also love the pretty, soft white color of this mixer.
  • WHITE PEACH Mixer
This is seriously one of my FAVORITE flavors from Master of Mixes. I can find ways to work it into winter, spring, summer, AND fall cocktails. 😋 My kids also love it “Italian soda style”.
  • MANHATTAN Mixer
The Time’s Square ball drop in Midtown Manhattan is a big part of New Year’s Eve, so this one feels especially fitting. 🗽

3. Add Creative Garnishes

Again, I opted for garnishes that were both functional + matched the theme.  This meant small fruits that could easily be dropped into champagne flutes – like blueberries, blackberries, and sliced lemons.

For a playful – and more unexpected – way for guests to sweeten up their drinks, include some rock candy swizzle sticks and cotton candy!

4. TALK to Me, Baby (Printables)

Now’s the time for POP FIZZ CLINK and other fun words of celebration. 😉 I designed an 8×10” Bubbly Bar sign, “pop fizz clink” stars, and geometric labels for the mixers. You can find the printables here!

And BTW – the labels are EDITABLE online. 🎉 This means you can customize the text with any mixer flavor you want before downloading them. (Maybe you’ve got guests coming that would enjoy their bubbly with a little Cherry or Frosé?)

5. DIY Fancy Stirrers

The sparkly drink stirrers are made from craft store beads and bamboo skewers. They’re easy to put together… just make sure your beads will fit snugly on the pointy end of the skewers. I slid the big bead on first for these, then hot glued a smaller plastic bead (with a larger opening) underneath it.

6. Bring on the Sparkle

Metallic stickers and trims are fantastic for embellishing glasses, serving dishes, and more.

I used Winter Sparkle Vinyl – which has a swirly, agate inspired design – to wrap the mixer carafes and also cut stars out of it for the flutes. (These chunky gold glitter stars would also look great on the flutes!) Sequin fabric and ribbons, star garlands, and my favorite gold confetti created lots of extra sparkle all around.

7. Style the Backdrop

Backdrops are a big part of any drink station, but they can often be the most difficult part to figure out. Not this one, though! 😉

This navy and gold backdrop is surprisingly fast to put together, plus you don’t need to be super “crafty” to pull it off. 🙌 The main elements are fabric, balloon hoops, and a star garland.

DIY Balloon Hoops Backdrop

The balloon hoops are made with 10” metal craft hoops and only take a few mins to assemble. Here’s how you do it:

1. Blow up your balloons. Most of the balloons used here are standard 12″ size, but I only blew them up half way or less. The white balloons are 5″ size though. (A handheld balloon pump will make this step easier.)

2. Attach the balloons to the hoops. The balloon tails should be tied in a knot as usual after you blow them up, but you’ll tie them a 2nd time for this step. Tie each balloon how you normally would, except stretch the tail around the hoop before releasing it into a knot. I used 5-7 balloons per hoop. It’s easy to slide and adjust the placement of the balloons once they’re attached.

3. Use fishing wire to hang the finished hoops at different heights above your table. Temporary ceiling hooks are awesome for this kind of thing!

DIY Balloon Hoops Navy Gold

I used a super sparkly navy sequin curtain here, but you can use any sort of backdrop material you want. Fabric shower curtains, sequin photo backdrops, and fringe foil curtains also work well.

If you don’t want to hang a linen, you can always use a plain white wall as your backdrop, and use a navy linen to put the color on your table instead.

3…2…1…CHEERS!

It’s fun to get creative with your bubbly bar – and then to watch your guests get creative with their drinks! 🥂

Depending on the size of your party, you may want to have some extra champagne, mixers, and pre-cut garnishes chilling in the fridge to make re-stocking the table a breeze.

If you wanna add even more “New Year’s Eve” vibes to this drink station – or elsewhere in your party – you’ll also find a “2021” Banner and Happy New Year 8×10″ Sign included with the printables!
