girl's sleepover birthday party

Growing up, we did the same thing every year for my birthday — invite over a bunch of girlfriends, watch some movies, eat junk food & then finally fall asleep in the wee hours of the morning (much to my parents’ dismay). This Pillow Fights & Brunch Sleepover Birthday Party from Abigail Barnes of Paper & Cake reminds me of all those birthdays, except way kicked up a notch! With a full brunch table filled with yummy breakfast treats, tons of fun activities for the girls and some midnight snacks for late-night movies, I’m betting they had plenty to talk about on Monday morning! :)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Brunch foods like glazed donuts, strawberries & nutella, bacon & eggs ramekins & granola parfaits
  • Hanging feather silhouettes over the brunch table + dessert foods silhouettes as photo booth props
  • Rainbow looms, board games & spa essentials for some pampering + a karaoke machine!
  • A rainbow frosted layer birthday cake + ‘Pillow Fight’ pillowcase party favors

PARTY DETAILS as told by Abigail

I knew the day would come when my daughter, Autumn would ask for a sleepover party. That’s not too out of the ordinary right? Well, when you live in the party world and kids’ birthday parties are kind of a big deal, it has to be amazing! After figuring out the logistics of throwing a party for 12 girls and having them all sleep over, I got pretty excited to start designing!

What’s the first thing most people think about when you say “sleepover?” Pillow Fights! No, there were no fights here; however, that’s what we based this party off of. Pillows, feathers, snacks, and fun games were all we needed for these girls to have a memorable night. I can honestly say that this entire party ran so smoothly and my birthday girl and her friends had the best time!

The girls started the night off with some games from our activity table. Board games and iPad games were available, and to my surprise the iPad wasn’t the star of the night! Perhaps there is hope =). Our Sweets Shoppe Photo Booth Props were so adorable for a little bit of photo fun. Nail polish and hair chalk are almost always a must at our girls parties. Who doesn’t love a little makeover? We stocked the table up with a jar full of sleepover questions for the girls to ask each other. We may or may not have listened in on this one. Rainbow loom was a popular game, but nothing matched the power of the karaoke machine. It was singing songs all night long in the Barnes’ house.

Each of Autumn’s guests received a pillow party favor for the night and to take home. The amazing Peggy from Comfy Cozy created these awesome glow in the dark pillow cases for us! The girls absolutely loved them, and it ended up being a very practical party favor. Not to mention, less laundry for mom the next day…

We took a break from the karaoke and sang happy birthday to the birthday girl with a giant Rainbow Naked Cake. Of course cake wasn’t enough, so the girls hit the “Midnight Snacks Table” and got comfy with their pillows and popped in a movie. I’m sure you can imagine how long that lasted… Before I knew it, every single girl was in Autumn’s room giggling and chatting away. Remember, we had 12 guests! I took that as my cue and went to sleep! The girls however, stayed up for much longer.

The sun came up as soon as I knew it, and so did the girls. It’s a good thing I was prepared for breakfast because they were ready for more! Our breakfast spread included a donut tower, orange juice, strawberry & nutella dippers, yogurt with berries, a breakfast bake, cereal, and hot chocolate lattes. EVERYTHING was eaten. I thought we were dealing with some growing boys here!

Aside from all of the goodies, my favorite part of the breakfast spread was the feather curtain. It was so easy and functional… just how I like my parties!

I hope you enjoy our Pillow Fight Sleepover Birthday Party!
