Clever & Healthy Fruit Snack Ideas {Web Round Up}
Being a party inspiration resource, we feature a lot of sweets and decadent treats here at HWTM… and I mean a LOT! That’s one of the reasons I was excited to be asked to participate in a program with Naked Juice highlighting unique ways to increase your intake of fruits and veggies – you know… the good-for-you stuff. :)
I thought this would be a great excuse to finally feature a round up of cute, creative, and HEALTHY “treats” from ’round the web made completely from fruit. You won’t find a drop of frosting or a pat of butter in these clever treats, and there’s a good chance that kids will even greet them with the same enthusiasm usually reserved for the beloved chocolate chip cookie. There are also some presentation ideas here worthy of grown up celebrations too… including an amazing Fresh Fruit Cake and the “Traffic Light” Smoothie Flight drink display from a transportation themed baby shower that I styled last year.
Here goes with the full round-up, starting from the top:
1. Very Hungry Caterpillar Snack by Jill Dubien {via Canadian Family}
2. Fresh Fruit Cake by Pen N’ Paperflowers
How pretty is this “cake”?! Jessica has an amazing step-by-step tutorial with full details on her blog.
3. Palm Tree Fruit Snack by Artistic31Mama
Simply peel, cut, and arrange on a plate. Yes, please… this is my kind of “recipe”! ;)
4. Fruit Salad Ice Cream Cones by Bakers Royale
More than just ice cream looks tempting in an ice cream cone! And no need to feel guilty about double scoops. I love this idea for a pretty shower or kids party too.
5. Mighty Mango 100% Juice Smoothie from Naked®
Mango actually isn’t a flavor I come into contact with a lot, so tasting this flavor out was actually a really nice change of pace. It’s thicker than regular juice but not as thick as a blender-type smoothie, and includes a lot of popular everyday fruits too – my 10 oz serving bottle (purchased in a variety pack at Costco) is also a good size for kids and boasts 3/4 of a mango, half an orange, 1 apple, 1/4 of a banana, and a hint of lemon!
6. Strawberry Banana 100% Juice Smoothie from Naked®
I love both of these flavors, so I was not shocked at all to instantly fall in love with this smoothie…and it’s somehow got 1-1/3 bananas ans 22 strawberries packed into each bottle. All that fruit goes down quite easily I must say. ;) I’m very tempted to try adding chunks of fresh strawberries and bananas to this one then freeze them into small chunky fruit popsicles this summer!
7. “Traffic Light” Smoothie Flight from HWTM
This is a super easy drink presentation idea for any transportation themed party where a traffic light goes well with the theme – like the Go, Baby Go! baby shower we styled last year or even a race car themed kids party. Just take tall shot glasses (glass or plastic), pour in red, yellow, and green smoothies, and let guests enjoy mini servings of these healthy treats! I used Green Machine, Orange Mango, and Red Machine Naked® Juice for this… gotta love that the only work involved in this one is to open and pour as well. ;) Smoothie flights are also a fun addition to garden or spa themed bridal showers!
Hope these ideas inspire you to whip up some healthy “treats” of your own! If you have any favorite ideas of your own to add, please share them below!
