PARTY DETAILS, as told by Ashley…
When Olivia came to me for help planning her daughter Emily’s 4th birthday, she knew right off the bat she wanted a Rapunzel/Tangled inspired birthday. Her daughters obsession with Princess Rapunzel is the cutest thing. Don’t believe me? When you ask little Emily what her name is, her response is “I’m Princess Rapunzel” in the cutest little voice ever! How could we not do a Tangled themed birthday for her?
Of course, I got straight to work & started thinking how we could make this “Princess Party” different from all the rest. I love a Princess party, as much as the next planner but I love having the creative freedom to change things up! So, we did. I pictured this event being the complete opposite of what comes to mind when you think “Disney Princess”. I pitched the idea to Olivia of doing a Rustic Rapunzel version & she loved it as much as I did! Thats when I came up with “A Rustic Royal Affair”.
As invitations are the very first thing guests see, I wanted them to be royal but with a rustic feel. Monica of Le Petite Papier helped me create just that with our scroll invite on a antique designed kraft paper tied with a yellow Rapunzel braid with two little purple bows at the end. SO cute & royal!
As guest arrived they were greeted by a Royal Fanfare.. No, jk! ;) But they were invited into a sea of green vines, earth tones and the most gorgeous outdoor space that fit perfectly for this theme. The kids had their own little royal table set up with cute white mini chiavari chairs, their own aprons, an activity set to paint, paint canisters filled with favors & goodies, Princess wands for the girls and lastly their very own crown to get the full royal feel.
The dessert station, which we agreed would be the main focus was my favorite part by far. Vanessa of Ohh My Sweetness did an amazing job on not only executing my vision to a T, but made the most delicious treats as well. Mi Vintage, a local vintage rental vendor had an indian cart made that I just HAD to use as the dessert station table. Vanessa added moss to the cart for an added pop of color and Monica of Le Petite Papier made purple glittery tent cards for that added princess sparkle! Vanessa baked ALL the yummy sweets seen, I mean, all! From Rapunzels Paint Palette (cake balls), Flynn Rider Boats (jello) to my favorite Rapunzels Hazelnut Soup (Nutella mousse). Guests could not stop raving about her yummy station. Vanessa even had the idea of making Flynn Rider satchel bags for each kid to take as their own treat bag! She used wood slabs as stands and a long yellow braid to “tie it all together” ;)
I’m blessed to work with so many great vendors but this team was absolutely great to work with! Not to mention, when you have such a crafty and hands-on Mom like Olivia, it makes my job that much easier. Olivia went all out for her daughter, spending countless night crafting up a storm. Olivia who owns her own business, One Up Design, created all the special items for this event. She made the purple felt banner with sun cutouts, the Princess wands and she event painted the canvas of Rapunzel (just to name a few). She is so talented and it was special for her to make these fun and beautiful extras for her daughter. Other little added extras we had were; “Snuggly Duckling Drinks” w/ stripped straws and mason jars for each guest, burlap runners on the plum linens to add the rustic touch and of course, a Princess bounce house! What 4th birthday isn’t complete with a fun bounce house!? It was a royal & rustic affair that left everyone tangled up in fun!
