PARTY DETAILS, as told by Jennifer…
This party and all the printables were designed by me for my son’s first birthday. The first thing I designed was the invitation. I wanted to evoke those vintage ABC cards, but in a modern and fun way by using a silhouette of Benjamin and bright fresh colors.
The rest of the decoration for the party came from the invitation. The silhouette image of Benjamin and bow ties was used throughout the decor.
For the main table (Dol table) we had our customized cake in our colors, yellow cupcakes, and alphabet cookies. The backdrop for the main table featured a silhouette of Benjamin in a party hat, so different colored and patterned party hats were also used as decor.
We had water bottles with labels reading ‘H is for H2O’, the caramel apples and the popcorn favors also had similar tent card labels. Food was catered Korean food set up in the kitchen, buffet style.
For the kids, I prepared a large basket with things they can play with outside as well as inside, including bubble wands, coloring books and crayons, water guns, activity books, etc. We also did the Doljabi game which is a Korean tradition in first birthdays, where the birthday boy or girl picks an item layed out in from of him that will foretell his future somewhat. There was a separate table designed inside the house for the doljabi containers, raffle tickets and ‘What will he choose?’ signage banner. We also had a small photo booth set up outside with bow ties, mustaches, glasses, etc, as props.

Love this party! I particularly love all of the polka-dots and the felt ball garland as well as the soft, vintage color scheme.
I did a similarly themed party earlier this year for twin girls! http://thisnestisbest.com/2012/02/26/abc-school-birthday-party/
