boy and girl twins 1st birthday party

Styling a party for twins might mean double the work, but it also means double the cuteness!! Valerie & Jen of Charming Touch Parties had some major inspiration to draw from when creating this {Up Up and Away} Twins’ Hot Air Balloon 1st Birthday (seriously, just look at those little angelic faces!). I love the traditional mix of pink and blue throughout, especially in the floral arrangements — the blue hydrangeas are perfect for a soft, natural look. Every detail has got me floating on cloud 9! ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Rag-tie bunting & pinwheel banners + bouquets of pink garden roses, blue hydrangeas & white tulips
  • White ruffle dessert table with cotton candy ‘clouds’ & hot air balloon topped cupcakes

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Valerie & Jen…

Having twins ourselves, we know first-hand the challenges and many joys of having everything be x2. Reaching a first birthday is a milestone in its own right – a sort of “we did it” celebration for Mom and Dad; and of course, a reason to celebrate the two precious babies who have blessed so many lives. Coming up with a fun and gender neutral theme for boy/girl twins isn’t always easy, however.

For Carter and Sydney’s birthday, we chose the ever popular and seriously adorable Hot Air Balloon theme. We love how this theme represents growth and possibility (and the colors are just perfect for a first year celebration). We enlisted the help of our super talented friend at Beth Kruse Custom Creations to create graphic designs that would set the tone of the party. We knew we wanted this party to seem airy and whimsical with LOTS of white to represent clouds, as well as punches of pink, blue, coral and mint.

For our dessert table we used ruffled white tablecloths on our backdrop and tabletop. They symbolized the clouds, and we added gorgeous florals at either end of our table for the pop of color we needed. Beautiful cupcakes, cloud-like smash cakes, boutique cookies, powdered doughnuts, cotton candy and pretty mason jars of milk set off our dessert table. Our “Up Up And Away” backdrop poster helped create some height for our dessert table and reinforced our theme. Small tabletop signs were placed in acrylic frames from Tiny Prints, and were another beautiful way to personalize our event.

Whenever we style and plan a first year birthday event, we love to add in some décor that can be kept and cherished after the event as keepsakes. For this event, we created some photo collage canvases and acrylic art through Tiny Prints and displayed these items throughout the event. We also created personalized chalkboard stat charts for each twin. These charts will can later be framed and cherished as a keepsake of the baby’s first year favorites. Our charts were held up by photo magnets we created through Tiny Prints and displayed on a large magnetic board.

Our twins were dressed in the most beautiful boutique outfits made by the talented “Navaeh’s Baby Couture Boutique”. We just loved the classic design and soft palette that dressed up our special birthday babies. The combination of all of these sweet elements made for a precious “Up, Up and Away” hot air balloon themed first birthday celebration not soon to be forgotten!

Absolutely adorable! I love the use of both pink and blue – and each twin getting their own little cupcake with their name on it! What a wonderful first birthday theme.
