Plush Penguin Party Theme

penguin party theme

What’s black and white and ridiculously cute all over? Well, this adorable Cow Penguin Plush and Penguin Pillow for starters! These cute little creatures from MyDearDarling are charming enough to inspire an entire baby shower or kids birthday party theme all by themselves, don’t you think? (Yes, that IS a penguin disguised as a cow!)

The classic b/w color palette looks great with bright orange accents alone – or you can add another fun color like pink or aqua to tailor the party more specifically for a boy or girl. Here are a few ideas that incorporate both pink & orange accents…

Extend the theme to your appetizer/buffet table as well with these ingenious Olive Penguins from Once Upon a Plate!

Last but not least, these Penguin Greeting Cards ($12/set of 6) are a cute option for coordinating thank you notes – or bundle them into smaller sets of 3, tie with a cute ribbon, and give them to guests as as party favors!

More Ideas:

  • Igloo Cake with Marzipan Penguins from Martha Stewart
  • Use this Penguin Ice Box Buddy to make your own penguin ice sculpture or penguin-shaped gelatin mold.
  • Paper lanterns make any party more festive! (Right, Amy?) Decorate with big black & white lanterns + smaller lanterns in your accent color. (I’m also thinking there’s got to be some way to make your own penguin using round paper lanterns as a base!)

I can’t wait to try making the olive penguins. From my grown-up daughter to my eight-year-old nephew, all the kids in my family eat black olives like candy, so I know they will love these adorable critters. Thanks!

The olive penguins have got to be the cutest things ever! Think even the kids would eat olives if they looked like that!

I did a penguin theme for my daughter’s first birthday! It was so much fun. We used purple penguins though. I made the olive penguins and had fish shaped crackers. For the vege platter, I froze a big block of ice with a rubber goldfish inside. I placed it in the middle of the platter to keep the veges cold. Also had a cheeseball covered with parm cheese to look like a snowball and put an olive penguin on top. The main cake was a 3D penguin covered in fondant and her smash cake was angel food shaped like an igloo covered with cool whip. I was worried about her getting sick if the cake was too rich, so angel food was perfect. Also had punch with “iceburgs” and plastic fish floating in it. Had stuffed animal purple penguins, balloons, snowflake plates and purple napkins. And snowflake toothpicks! My daugher wore a cute shirt with penguins on it. All in all it was super cute and tons of fun! Would love to share pics, but I don’t have a blog. Need to get them onto flicker… Thanks for letting me share!

I did a Penguin Birthday Party Theme for my daughter – I made my own decorations since it is very hard to find them – feel free to share on your blog – It was one COOL party – lol:

I love all your ideas here – especially the Olives

  20. Laura McDonald February 1, 2010 at 8:31 pm

Where can I buy those adorable penguin cookies? Do I have to make them myself? They would be the cutest favors.

  21. jenn s. February 2, 2010 at 10:12 am

    Laura –
You could probably just show the image of them to any bakery that specializes in custom cookies or royal-icing cookies and they could replicate them for you.

I’m not sure where you’re located, but here’s a great place in SoCal that I like, and I’m pretty sure they ship all over the country:
http://sunflowerbaking.com/ Their pricing is usually about $3.75 per cookie.

    Good luck! :)

The olives are sooooo cute. I will be making them for Thanksgiving. Is it cream cheese or mozzarella?

Too cute! I’m planning a penguin party for my daughter’s second birthday and will try to pull this off as an (un)domestic diva!
