While sitting in a restaurant having cafe in Vegas a couple years ago, I noticed a server pushing a bar cart around the restaurant that was filled with lots of different ingredients for mixing up a Bloody Mary or Mimosa to your liking. I remember thinking how a “mini mobile bar” like that would be such a fantastic element for a party too…. simply because it would add an element of out-of-the-ordinary FUN!
Well, I’m finally trying out a version of this idea myself, using a cool Wood and Brass Finish Bar Cart from Target. The concept is not exactly the same idea as what I first had in mind that day in the restaurant… because my house is about a football field or so smaller than that Encore cafe + has a couple stairs between all the rooms on the bottom floor, so “pushing a cart around the party” isn’t exactly super practical. ;) I still love the idea of having a mini bar station with a special drink in an unexpected spot that’s set apart from the rest of the drinks though – even if it needs to stay in one place! Added bonus – bar carts will double as fantastic home decor before and after your parties (styled up however you like)… and I’m pretty sure they’d be extra SWEET as the foundation for mini dessert stations too!
FESTIVE FOR FALL
Since fall holidays are in the air right now, I decided to start with a simple & festive fall party look here + a signature drink that’s perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, not to mention so easy it’s almost ridiculous. (which I’m pretty sure is a good thing!) Here are some easy tips on how to pull this look together:
1. Make it Fun:
This cart is already pretty on its own, but I felt like it needed a detail added that definitively yelled “PARTY!”. The solution? Metallic paper circles punched from a sheet of gold scrapbook paper. I used glue dots to adhere them to the cart in random spots for a look reminiscent of giant gold confetti. (And yes, I’m already thinking this needs to reappear for a New Year’s Eve champagne toast too!)
2. Signiture Drink:
It goes without saying that a bar cart should have a great drink to boast! And not only that – it should be the star of the show. I chose a super simple, yet tasty fall cocktail featuring spiced rum, sparkling apple cider, and pomegranate juice, then designed a quick signature drink sign to give guests instructions on how to mix it up. You can download the sign for free right here if you’d like to use it too!
Note: The ability to utilize the top shelf for a fun signature drink will vary based on your party size, but it works great for small gatherings – and you can always utilize the bottom shelf for extra glassware when necessary!
3. Garnish Away:
Make sure your signature drink looks as good as it tastes. This doesn’t have to take a lot of time either – a simple band of washi tape around the tumblers + a fruit garnish did the trick here. You can also get creative with the way you display your garnishes. I actually used a matching brass votive candle holder as my “garnish tray” here!
4. Top and Bottoms Up:
Even though the “star of the party” is on the top shelf – take advantage of the bottom shelf too. This is a great place to store other liquor or drink options for guests, as well as extra glassware. It’s also a great place to add a decorative element that helps tie everything together. I added a small arrangement of apples and pomegranates on the bottom shelf here to help tie into the flavors of the signature drink.
That’s it for today! Look for this little guy to pop up again soon though – planning to style him up in a different way for an upcoming holiday party. If you have any bar cart styling tips or pictures to add I’d love to hear/see them!
P.S. You’re welcome to download the free printable Fall Cocktail Sign pictured above. Enjoy!
