With just the image of the cake design, Betty of P&J by Design, created a dramatic dessert table inspired by the lace detailing for a Black & White Engagement Party. With the delicacy of lace, she hand crafted the beautiful fabric table cloth & backdrop as well as the pretty paper flowers! (For matching black & white tablescape ideas click here and here.)

  • Custom made rosette linen table cloth and lace fabric backdrop + handmade large paper flowers

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Betty

The brief was pretty simple, black & white however the table was far from simple. I based the theme and style of the table around the image of the engagement cake I received from the client.

The highlight of this table is the backdrop. After looking closely at the stencil work on the cake I knew the perfect black lace fabric I wanted to use for the backdrop. To add to this I handmade large black and white paper flowers to accentuate the flowers on the lace fabric. I had so much fun making these. I also purchased lovely black rosette fabric and made that into the table linen.

The talented Lisa from (Cakes and Biscuits by Lisa) created the gorgeous engagement cake, cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons and biscuits. Other sweet treats included Persian Fairy Floss, Lemon Meringues, and Chocolate Caramel Tarts.

Valeriane from Valeriane Digital did an amazing job in creating a printable file incorporating the stencil design for the candy jar labels, lolly box tags and chocolate bar wrappers.

The white tableware pieces were hired from Old New Borrow Blue. Which included some adorable vintage Fenton Milk Glass Compotes pieces. An old Provincial style hall table was used to display the lolly boxes.
