Hi there! It’s Amber here from Amber Lay Events, and for this week’s wedding DIY, I’m so excited to share some of my favorite Budget Friendly Wedding Bouquet + Boutonnier ideas with you! I love it when couples push the envelope with the colors, materials, and/or textures that they pick for their weddings. These bouquet and boutonniere pairings are unexpected, yet beautiful, and will hopefully spark some fun floral inspiration for your own wedding – or another upcoming event!

4 BUDGET BOUQUET IDEAS + MATCHING BOUTONNIERES

ORANGE SUNFLOWERS & BLACK MINI CALLA LILIES

This striking color palette is sure to turn heads! The texture difference between the Mini Calla Lilies and the Sunflowers will make a huge visual impact.

Materials (1 Bouquet + 1 Boutonniere):

• 7 Mini Calla Lilies
• 7 Orange Sunflowers
• Brown Burlap Ribbon
• 9 Pearl Boutonniere Pins (2 for pinning on the boutonniere and 7 to bind the bouquet)
• Floral Knife
• Floral Clippers/Shears

THISTLE & LIME GREEN BUTTON MUMS

I love the wild and organic look of this bouquet as well as the strong color contrasts between the lime green Button Mums, the brown in the dried exotics and blue in the Thistle.

Materials (1 Bouquet + 2 Boutonnieres):

• 1 Bunch Thistle
• 1 Bunch Lime Green Button Mums
• 1 Dried Badam on a stick
• 1 Lotus Pod on a stick
• Brown Burlap Ribbon
• 9 Pearl Boutonniere Pins (2 for pinning on the boutonniere and 7 to bind the bouquet)
• Oasis Floral Glue
• Floral Knife
• Floral Clippers/Shears
• Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

FUSCHIA DIANTHUS &  DRIED MUSHROOM

Who doesn’t love fuchsia?! It is still pink but it isn’t overly girly. The super simple mono-botanical fuchsia bouquet next to the incredible texture of the dried mushroom in the boutonniere makes a bold statement.

Materials (1 Bouquet + 1 Boutonniere):

• 1 Bunch Fuchsia dianthus
• 1 Dried Sponge Mushroom on a stick
• Transparent Maroon Ribbon
• 9 Pearl Boutonniere Pins (2 for pinning on the boutonniere and 7 to bind the bouquet)
• Floral Knife
• Floral Clippers/Shears
• Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

BLACK DAHLIAS & POPPY PODS

Black Dahlias are one of my favorites! They make for such a dramatic statement! Pairing them with the earthy Poppy Pods and burlap make for a neutral but dynamic combo.

Materials (1 Bouquet + 1 Boutonniere):

• 1 Bunch Black Dahlias
• 1 Bunch Poppy Pods
• Burlap Ribbon
• 9 Pearl Boutonniere Pins (2 for pinning on the boutonniere and 7 to bind the bouquet)
• Floral Knife
• Floral Clippers/Shears

HELPFUL HINTS & TRICKS

• While arranging your bouquets make sure to continuously turn it so that you can see it from all sides and angles. You want to end up  with a balanced and rounded shape from all 360 degrees.
• Once you have arranged your bouquet to your liking you can temporarily secure it with a chenille stem until you are ready to bind it. The chenille stem won’t slice the stems like a regular wire will but it still holds the bouquet tight enough so that it won’t loose its form.
• When binding your bouquet tightly wrap it from the top to the bottom with the ribbon of your choice.
• Once your bouquet is bound cut the ends of  the stems at the same length using your floral clippers/shears.
• Precut your boutonniere pins to about 1/4″ long. Once you have bound your bouquet secure the end of the ribbon with the pins and then continue the pins all the way up the bouquet to complete the look.
• To glue the the fresh florals (Thistle & Button Mums) to the dried exotics use Oasis Floral Glue which you can find at any floral supply store. If you use hot glue it will scorch the florals and they will not last as long.
• The dried exotics already come on sticks so just trim them to the length you would like your boutonniere stem to be (usually about 2″ long) and wrap it with ribbon securing it with hot glue.
