Simply put, this “Cute as a Button” First Birthday Party definitely lives up to its name! JoAnne from Oh Goodie Designs did such a wonderful job styling this sweet, charming party, which would also translate beautifully to a Cute as a Button baby shower!

The charming edible details included pretty treats like blue ruffle cakes, button lollipops, and lemon bars adorned with fondant buttons. I’m especially loving the use of mason jars throughout the party though – from the “mini mason jar bubble station” (so fun!) to larger mason jars that were embellished with “button flowers” and clever favor labels reading “Thank you sew much for coming.”

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Joanne

The parents wanted a vintage feel to compliment the restaurant and garden area used for the event. In the garden we dressed the iron tables with vintage lace and green McCoy pottery filled with baby’s breath. There was a bubble station for the kids to refill their mini mason jars of bubble juice. I also made a child size chalkboard for the children’s enjoyment. They had fun doodling on the chalkboard by the fence. We had a photo background of lace and the perfect seat for the birthday boy! Each guest had fun posing with the birthday boy while holding their message on the chalkboard.

An array of h’ors d’ouerves were served from rustic cheeses, breads and dips with lemonade to quench that thirst on the sunny day. Sweets were served from on top of an antique door table including coconut macaroons, sweet popcorn, chocolate chunk cookies, lemon bars, and other delicious cookies. The lace ruffled cake was a beautiful centerpiece to our cake table and matching smash cake for baby was precious. Meringue cookies served next to a vintage collection of his Grandmother’s buttons set the scene for our celebration.
