PARTY DETAILS, as told by Peta…

When my son Jack was turning 4, we decided to create a “Magical Carnival Spectacular” party to incorporate his love of clowns and magic! The main elements we wanted to include were the rabbit in the hat representing the wonderful world of magic, and the fun and bright colours of the clown.

Rather than using the popular carnival themed red and white stripes, I opted for a bold polka dot patterned fabric to base the colour scheme on. The polka dot fabric selected was used as the table runner for the cake table, the backdrop for the carnival dress-up and games area, and as part of the material bunting hung throughout the party.
The cake table included rabbit in hat cookies placed in a black magician’s top hat, mini cupcakes covered in confetti polka dots and balloon macaron pops, clown face cookies and bright cake pops and cake balls with clown heads. The cake placed centre stage incorporated the bright polka dots in the design as well as the rabbit in hat and a playful clown.

The kids enjoyed the wigs, glasses and props provided in the dress-up area and role playing behind the bright coloured carnival stalls. The games included the can toss and pass the parcel, face painting and a magic show by Buzz the Clown.
