Colorful + Whimsical + Modern Art Party
There’s so much great creativity to share with you today! We have another fabulous Art Themed Birthday Party and are just LOVING the whimsical, modern vibe that it brings!
Joanne from Oh Goodie Designs created this colorful party to celebrate her daughter’s birthday, and it’s full of so many clever, creative details… My personal favorite is probably the fantastic “paint-splattered” cake that’s embellished with an adorable mini yarn pom garland cake topper, which just so happens to coordinate perfectly with the bigger yarn pom garland that’s hanging across backdrop of the buffet! And then of course there are the rainbow “painter’s palette” cupcakes, the fabulous arts-n-crafts looking invites, the paint-splattered food labels displayed on mini artist easels, the cool rainbow chevron paper lanterns & cups by Jonathan Adler, and more…

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Joanne…
“For my daughter’s 6th birthday, she wanted to do an art party. I was excited at first because when I began planning, there were not that many art parties out there. As I began to plan, art parties sprung up everywhere! I loved it at first, then as party time grew closer, I grew weary of the theme because I hate for people to think I am copying ideas.
Anyway, I decided to do a more craft theme using art materials in the decor.
It started with the design for the invite. My left hand man, Erica at Sweet Prints, designed the perfect invite on craft paper. I just loved the scribble fonts used. My favorite part of the invite was the crayon wrapper paper confetti that spilled out as the guests opened them. Perfect!
I found these adorable yarn poms. It was a perfect find. I also used the cake pom garland for the cake as well. They were a hit!
I fell in love with these chevron patterned paper lanterns by Jonathan Adler. I also used the matching soda pop cups for drinks. Perfect!
Of course no party is complete with out paper straws from Shop Sweet LuLu. I requested a rainbow pack to match my rainbow lantern theme. The best!
We used bamboo plates from Garnish to add to the “arts and craft” feel. I also wrapped the tea bottles in craft paper with yarn ties. So fun!
For the favors, we used paper craft tubes with these amazing labels again designed by Sweet Prints. They were filled with colored pencils. Each child also received a pad of handmade paper tied up with yarn, handmade crayons by Preschool Doll (who also made the crayon wrapper confetti), and all the art they could make at the party which went into these craft bags.
For the cake I ordered a multicolored tier cake. The birthday girl actually suggested they decorate it with splattered paint icing. Brilliant!
The cupcakes by bon~bon were placed on wooden paint pallets to look like paint.
I was super excited about my daughter’s dress. My sister sent her this Lilly Pulitzer ‘Paint by Numbers’ dress. It could not have been more perfect. So Cute!
I had intended to set up the table outside in the garden, but rain made for other plans. But fortunately, the table inside the art studio could back up against this chalkboard, so it all worked out perfectly.
I was so thrilled with this party. I really feel it took on an art and handmade craft feel. I love arts and crafts and wish we took more time to teach our children to craft and get messy doing it. The ArtWorks Studio was fantastic at hosting this party. The employees could not have been sweeter and more accommodating. So much art was made as well as homemade Play-dough and so much

Seriously whimsical and beautiful. I love the yarn poms and yarn usage. Adore mixing the kraft elements in there. Devastatingly fabulous. Her dress is the cutest. Ever.

Wow, what a clever party — I love all of the themed details. I know this was a kids’ party, but I totally would have loved to attend! :)

i was wondering what size your wood paint pallettes were, that you displayed the cupcakes on? Thank you for your help. Love your whole party decor, it’s amazing!
