PARTY DETAILS, as told by Emily

Like most toddlers, my son Dean loooooves to dance. Any time he hears a music, he has to bust a move. We figured it only made sense to give him a dance party for his second birthday celebration! We kept everything pretty simple–I set everything up in front of our garage door, using fringe garland and a foamcore backdrop. I decorated with disco ball Christmas ornaments and confetti.

For refreshments, we had disco ball cupcakes, microphone cake pops, “cha cha chips” and salsa, veggies with “disco dip,” pretzel “drumsticks,” and “footloose” fruit, with “limbo lemonade” and “tango tea.”

For activities, we stayed with the simple theme, pulling our old big screen TV out of the basement and hooking up the Wii so the kids (and the adults!) could play Just Dance! and Glee Karaoke. Favors were echo microphones from the Target dollar zone.

I love how the food furthers the theme – like the pretzel ‘drumsticks’ and footloose fruit salad!

Love this theme! And how everything is so sparkly and elegant.. My Favorite thing would be the microphone cake pops! I Don’t know how you did it, but they look amazing!
