Valentine's Day Party Ideas - Fondue

More “LOVE-ly” eye candy for you today! This whimsical take on Valentine’s Day is courtesy of Vicky of A Subtle Revelry. Vicky’s parties are always full of unique and beautiful handmade ideas, and this “The Games That Cupid Plays” theme is no exception!

The holiday garland re-purposed into a heart-shaaped backdrop for Valentine’s Day is such a simple, yet clever & striking idea, and cheese fondue was switched up from the traditional family-style set-up to more of an individual appetizer by serving it on small glass plates set atop wine glasses filled with tealights… genius! Also adoring this beautiful, handmade metallic garland/bunting

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Vicky

“I recently designed a whimsical take on Valentines Day including a few fun games. I like to call it “the games that cupid plays“. It was designed as a get-together for all my girls friends and would serve as sweet inspiration to any gathering for the holiday.

A little description: Each guest was greeted with a special Valentine, a Valentine in a matchbox filled with little goodies, including a hair flower, metallic heart bunting, candy, and a breath mint! This idea is perfect for party favors or even just to give away as a fun Valentine.

We designed the night around fun and games, eating fondue together and playing a game of, “why you are wonderful“, where each girl tossed a small ball into an egg crate-shaped tray until they landed in a spot in the tray that exclaimed why they were wonderful. Each spot had a corresponding present wrapped in hot pink to go along with it!

The whimsy of the evening was showcased not only in the games, but also in the decor… with a bright pink backdrop and metallic touches throughout the space. I placed single blooms of flowers in tulle-covered embroidery hoops that hung as a wall bouquet, and wood was painted and glittered… perfect decorations for a casual gathering of friends.

We served cheese fondue in individual plates resting over large glasses filled with candles, making the fondue less of a family meal and more an appetizer treat suitable gathering of your closest girl friends! We set out bread, grapes and other goodies for dipping.

The party was backed with bright pink fabric with pretty metallic touches, including the handcrafted garland. There were also chocolate brownies as dessert and individual metallic kisses that served as sweet nod to the special holiday.
