Cupcakes and Tea Baby Shower

Stacy from Scrumptious Swirls created this lovely and oh-so-feminine “Cupcakes & Tea for Mama to Be” baby shower for her sister… and you can definitely feel the sisterly love in all these elegant details!

One of my favorite elements has got to be the DIY ribbon chandelier (pictured cirectly below). I’ve seen these chandeliers before, but the butterfly embellishments Stacy added definitely kick it up a notch! Also loving the tea cup flower arrangements, apothecary jars terraniums, and edible pearl accents on the cupcakes… not to mention the the stunning petal cake!

Theme:

“This baby sprinkle that I designed was for my sister who is having her 2nd child but her 1st daughter.  I have been really wanting to do a shabby chic theme with my grandmothers china that I was given a few years ago and other things that I have collected over the years that truly are vintage!  I was also able to borrow a few things from my Mom & my Aunt to bring the whole lunch together without having to buy anything.  I just love cupcakes so it was perfect theme cupcakes & tea! Also in planning,  I thought it would be a wonderful idea to celebrate her 1st little girl and to ask our friends to bring clothes as their gifts so we could create a clothesline to gift her!

Decor:

I set up my bombay chest in the entry way with a frame that I had bought at Pier 1 Imports , I added pretty rose ribbon & little ribbon rosebuds to the clips on the frame and you will notice I added them to the laundry clips as well for the clothes line.  I made little cards for everyone to leave a sweet note or advice for having a new daughter. We hung the notes & gifted it to the Mama to be for the babies room.

All the pink roses, tulips and ranunculus flowers I arranged throughout in vases and in apothecary jars for display.  The beautiful arrangements throughout the party were provided by The Garden Girls. I placed moss in the tea cups with a tea bag and handmade butterflies also provided by The Garden Girls and placed them on the table for decoration.  The roses that we filled the drawers in the desk and the tea tray I created as a decorative centerpiece with a milkglass vase, tea pot, tea cup and meyer lemons were one of my favorite elements of the shower!

Over the drink table I made a ribbon mobile with floral wire and 3 different types of ribbon, that also became a gift for the baby’s room.  I hung poms that I made in the kitchen over the island and now re-using them in my little girls room!  With this party I definitely wanted to be eco-friendly with the few things that I did buy to be sure I could re-use them.  So if it wasn’t borrowed it was bought but being re-used!

Food:

Sticking with your traditional ladies tea, I served tea sandwiches which I arranged on my cupcake stand.  Along with chicken salad sandwiches, potato salad, asparagus, strawberries, sour cream pound cake & a fresh cream all homemade!  I added height to the serving pieces with old decorative books & cake stands.

Drinks:

Ice tea, European lemon soda & served in depression glassware I had found a few years ago.

Desserts:

I created this cake topper with a rose & rose petals that fell onto the cupcakes below, inspired by the Martha Stewart rose petal cupcakes . The cupcakes were strawberry & cream cheese with rosewater vanilla buttercream.  The butterfly decorated cupcakes were butter cupcakes, along with meringue cookies, macaroons & jelly belly bubblegum flavored jelly beans.  The sweet favor boxes were provided by Party Starters.  Everyone was able to fill them up with sweets to head home.

Overall there was a lot of details to the shower & with all the flowers the rooms smelled magnificent!  The Mama to Be and her sweet little lady are all set with her new wardrobe!”

Absolutely gorgeous! The use of grandmother’s china is both meaningful and perfect for a tea party. What a thoughtful and wonderful baby shower you have provided for your sister.
