“Curious Cami” {Curious George Birthday Party}
Cami’s growing up! Last year we featured her SUNNY & BRIGHT: Elmo Birthday Party, and this year she celebrated with a colorful, modern – and super CUTE! – Curious George Birthday Party – again whipped up by mom: Michelle of I DO invitations by michelle). Every single picture from this party is brimming with Michelle’s fabulously detailed decor & DIY projects… many of which her wonderful hubby helped her construct (what a keeper!).
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Colorful dessert trays elevated by funky spray-painted stands
- Monkey cake pops & cake topper with a glittery “Curious Cami” billboard
- Painted mason jars used as vases for bright tulip bunches
- An adorable birthday girl outfit (including a fabric flower headband with gemstones!)
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Michelle…

Theme
Pretty much right after my daughter’s 2nd Birthday, I knew Curious George was going to be a contender for her next party. I plan parties early so I can find deals and steals :) To say she’s obsessed with “George” would be an understatement. I knew I didn’t want to do the typical color scheme – if you’ve seen her other parties you know I like to use lots of bright colors. I used the typical red, aqua and yellow and added in some hot pink and lime. Chevron was the main pattern used throughout and the fabulous Jessica of Pen N’ Paperflowers designed the adorable little monkey!
Decor
My husband is such a trooper – he spray painted lots of things for her party for me – the mason jars, the funky stands holding the dessert trays (found at Hobby Lobby on clearance) and also created the fabulous tree out of wood and made the signs seen on the sides of the table. I re-used the same yellow fabric from Cami’s Elmo Inspired Party last year to cover the dessert table and used a red chevron table runner by Nancy of A to Zebra Celebrations. I’ve had my eye on wanting to purchase Blumeboxes for awhile now, but wanted to use them for something other than the norm, so I added the tissue poms on top for a fun flower like look on the mantle. I made the DIY fabric garland using the five alternating colors for only $9. I love how it’s so simple yet adds so much to the backdrop. I purchased the adorable ornate picture frame also seen on the mantle from Poppy Tree Frames.
Dessert Table
I scored all of the matching table cloths, plates, napkins, utensils, plastic dessert trays, etc. last year from Party City on clearance. As for the dessert table, it was perfect thanks to all the incredible ladies who are beyond talented in the baking department. Kelly of Lillycakes & Desserts made the adorable cake pops, mini cupcakes, banana creme dessert cups and mini cherry pies. The cake was amazing. I randomly found Paige of Polka Dot Bakery on Facebook and saw a quilted cake she made and knew I wanted to do something simple like that except have her make the little pearls in the party colors :) The glittery cake billboard on top made by The Purple Pug was the perfect final touch! The monkey cookies by Allyson Jane and the other chevron/banana/Curious Cami cookies by The Cookie Jar were fabulous and a big hit.
Birthday OutFit
Cami’s adorable outfit was just perfect! The fabulous *golden* also made curious tees for the four little guests. Cami had a smile on her face the whole day and it was so much fun celebrating with her family and friends!
