We have been so busy lately working on a party, which of course means tons of baking. I didn’t think I’d be able to look at one more cupcake, until this delicious party came along! Amy Grout of SmashCake & Co. enlisted the help of her always adorable girls to create this Cute as a Cupcake Girly Sweets Party! With pretty pastels and picture perfect treats, this party serves as a great reminder to celebrate the sweeter things in life (family, friends and cupcakes) ;)!
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Cupcake cookies & matching strawberry topped cupcakes + sprinkle rimmed milk glasses
- Yellow polka dotted patterned paper table runner + hanging tissue poms & pom decorated chair backs
- Giant swirl frosted ‘cupcake’ cake, mini cupcake topped cake pops & meringue topped yogurt parfaits
PARTY DETAILS as told by Amy…
When I started to dream about this party (yes, I literally do dream about parties) the weather was still cold and snowy here in the Midwest, and I knew I wanted something light, bright and cheerful. So, I went with a color palette of soft pink, yellow and blue with pops of red…reminiscent of a cupcake with a strawberry or cherry on top! Ironically the day of the photo shoot was dark and rainy, but Becky of Becky Batchelor Photography used her amazing talent and we made the best of it!
When it came to sweets I immediately contacted the enormously talented Jovanna at The CakeHole and gave her some of my ideas, and she ran with them. I think when I picked up the cake & cupcakes I actually squealed with delight. I KNOW I squealed when I saw the cookies.
Pretty cake pops by Jeanine at Sweet Peas Cake Pops & Treats, always a favorite of ours, looked even more gorgeous adorned in red bows and tiny cupcake embellishments. We made simple yogurt parfaits by layering strawberry yogurt and whipped cream, topping them with a homemade yellow meringue from The Cake Bake Shop.
I love simple details. I believe you can select a few sweets that support your chosen theme and some well-chosen party supplies in a limited color palette to pull together a gorgeous party. So, we used our signature Party Paper (Big Dots in Lemon Drop, Candy Stripe in Pink Frosting, and Dainty Dots in Blue Taffy) throughout the party for everything from banners and table runners, to pretty presents and the cake stand risers. I also made some simple chair backers our of cupcake liner bows for just pennies a piece!
Our “Cute as a Cupcake” models were all wearing hair accessories from the very sweet Val at Chicken Scratch’d. Perfect for a party anytime of the year, a Cute as a Cupcake themed party is easy to replicate for YOUR little cupcake, too!
