PARTY DETAILS, as told by Jeanette

Inspiration

“I recently planned a “Glitzy” Bookworm-ette party for my daughter who LOVES to read. She’s a real girly girl and that’s where the “glitzy” part comes in. I added glitter where ever I could and bling to the favors. Who says bookworms can’t be glam, right?!?!

My inspiration started with a Robert Kaufman fabric sample I had seen on Pinterest. That fabric set the tone for the whole party. The colors were vibrant and fun. I was able to find the fabric print in a digital format and that led me to create all the paper crafts needed throughout the party.

The wormette graphic used throughout the party was designed for me by the fabulous Michele of Intrigue Design Studio.

Dessert Table

I purchased a cream color bookcase from Craigslist and painted it white to suite my theme. I decided to use the bookcase as my backdrop for the dessert table and fill it with my daughter’s books. She has a ton, so filling it was not a problem! The wreath hanging on the bookcase was custom designed by The Knock Knock Factory. The details on the wreath are incredible. I added a few items from my daughters room, like the pencil cup, with glittery pencils and added a pinwheel made of book pages and striped paper straws.

The table was covered with a white linen and an over lay that I made with the Kaufman fabric. I used my Opulent treasures cupcake stand and adorned the cupcakes with the toppers I made myself (again featuring the wormette graphic designed by Intrigue Design Studio.) A mini cake was displayed on a clear cake pedestal, on boxes that I covered with book pages using Mod Podge. The cake topper I also designed.

Turquoise trays displayed mini clear boxes with gummy worms inside, wrapped with glitter black ribbon and a color rhinestone. The other turquoise tray displayed glittery caramel apples made by Roni’s Sugar Creations. I used 2″x 4″ clear tubes to fill with my daughters favorite chips ahoy cookies. I wrapped each one with glitter tulle and added a tag, which I designed. There were Smarties candy inside glittered boxes that I purchased from Target. I also used Nerds candies but I decided to glue lollipop sticks to them, line them with glitter and tie glittered ribbon to each one. I displayed those in the glittered boxes as well.

One of my favorite treats on the table were the rice crispy “worms”. I shaped them out of the individually wrapped treats, cut them in half and wrapped them with fruit roll up snacks. I added the google eyes to them, please note: the eyes are NOT edible. I laid them on paper leaves cut from color book pages and displayed on a silver tiered stand, also standing on a book page covered box.”

Children’s TableScape

I was going for a fun dramatic table scape and I think I succeeded. I used a black linen and made a table runner to match the dessert table. The centerpieces were beautiful black vases with pink roses and book page pinwheels on striped paper straws. I also put together a  couple of book sets, using my daughters books and topped each one with a plush bookworm-ette, custom made by Cute4Sale. I absolutely love how she designed the wormette to match my theme so perfectly. Each place setting had a white square plate with white pencil boxes, serving as their favor boxes.

Favors

Each pencil box was decorated with labels that I designed and color rhinestones. Inside each box were, glitter pencils, pencil caps, “nerd” glasses that I bedazzled a little, book markers that I also made, roll on glitter tubes, silly bands, fake bling, sequence head bands made by Tini Posh and a swirl lollipop.”

Additional Tables

Additional tables were decorated with black linens and argyle table runners, small vases with pink roses. I made small bookwormette picks to add to the vases.

Activities

I set up a simple white table for the girls to decorate their own book bags. I set out fabric markers and fabric gel pens. I also set out beads and string for them to make bracelets. Even with a jumper at the party, the girls were extremely entertained with the small craft projects.”
