Darling Pink Vintage Circus Birthday Party
What a fun day in the park for a sweet birthday girl (and friends!)… Lucy’s mom Simone co-owns inviteme & designed this totally darling Pink Vintage Circus Party for her birthday celebration. I love the super girly + vintage twist that Simone put on the popular circus theme – with fabulous printables and feminine details like ruffled cupcakes, a pink gauze canopy, and dainty treat dishes!
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Adorable cake adorned with a cool vintage edible image graphic + scalloped fondant
- Mini pink ombre cakes with little pink banner toppers
- Muslin favors bags, clown cupcake toppers + printable vintage circus animal bunting
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Simone…
The theme was carefully chosen because of Lucy’s obsession with elephants. As soon as Simone spotted the vintage image of a little girl on an elephant she knew exactly what kind of party she wanted to throw for her youngest daughter’s birthday.
Vintage-inspired Lovely Lace pastel pink paper plates and cups tied in perfectly with the vintage circus theme along with the Vintage Circus printables designed by inviteme. For a little extra sparkle Simone adorned inviteme’s printable hats with ribbon, fabric and flowers with items sourced from the local craft store. Nothing like a bit of cut and pasting to add that extra shine to your printables range!
A graphic designer by trade, Simone designed a unique three-dimensional invitation, shape-cut and with that luscious little girl riding high on top of the elephant. (Couldn’t you just eat her?) With just a handful of younger children invited Simone decided to keep it a small but sweet affair with just seven little guests invited. The party day dawned and it emerged as the most glorious sunny winter’s day ever, resulting in a last minute change of plan witht the circus soiree now hosted in the local park instead of at home. (And oh my, wasn’t Simone pleased that she did!)
Owning a boutique online party ware store, Simone has a tendency to go all out for her children’s celebrations. But on this occasion she wanted something a little more low-key, yet but still sweet and stylish. She chose to focus on a range of printables, which added sparkle and style to her small affair.
Anita from Cake Haute Couture provided the centerpiece of the table – a vanilla bean cake with edible image transfer of the girl and the elephant. Anita also provided ruffled icing cupcakes which accompanied a few jars of candy and bars of chocolate that was just enough sweetness for a little afternoon soiree.
Simone loves the idea of creating beautiful things that can be used beyond just the birthday celebration. This was the inspiration behind creating the printable bunting strung up in front of the table and is now strung up on Lucy’s wall in her bedroom.
Little customized muslin favour bags were a huge hit with little guests. Harmonicas, maracas and a few small, select items of candy had them all leaving the party squealing with delight.
The pint-sized guests then all toddled off home tired but happy – in anyone’s book, the ideal outcome for any two year old’s party.

What a innovative twist to a circus theme party! I love how Simone captured the nostaglia of childhood circus memories.
This is so lovely! I love the characters and the soft colors.
I was thinking about maybe doing a vintage circus theme for Sadie’s 1st Birthday (and she won’t even be born until Oct)!
