Wine Glass DIY #2: Embellishing with Keys
Here’s another fun & delightfully unexpected way to dress up those wine glasses… metallic gold keys! This is also an idea I first used for our Wonderlandia party to add a little whimsy to the Modern Glam Tea Table, but I actually think this idea would translate really well to a “key to my heart” bridal shower/engagement party or to HALLOWEEN parties too using just the skeleton key shapes.
All you need are some metal key-shaped scrapbook embellishments (or old keys) and a little gold spray paint + Mini Glue Dots for adhesive or ribbon for hanging. Full details below…

For the Gold Keys:
Look for small metal key embellishments in the scrapbook aisle at your favorite craft store or scrapbooking website. They usually come in a coppery/rusted vintage finish, which you can keep if that’s the look you’re going for – but I like to brighten them up with a quick coat of gold plate metallic spray paint.
For the Skeleton Key Wine Glasses:
Once dry, attach a few Mini Glue Dots to the back side of each key and immediately stick them to the glass, pressing firmly to make sure the key is secure. Add a couple adhesive rhinestones to either side of the key if you’d like to add some additional color.
Helpful Tip: When attaching the Mini Glue Dots to the metal key, it’s best to place the key directly onto the roll or sheet of Glue Dots and pull back to release it instead of trying to peel the dots off with your fingers first. Since the dots are really small, you might have a hard time getting them off your fingers, which can also reduce the stickiness of the adhesive.

I love your pictures and my wife loves white wine!
Nice touch. One more thing to make for a “special” gift.
