DIY Tutorial: Neon Bottle Table Numbers
Happy Wedding Wednesday Everyone! It’s Amber here again from Amber Lay Events! This week I am excited to share a DIY Neon Wedding Table Number Idea!
NEON BOTTLE TABLE NUMBERS
I don’t know about you, but I am obsessed with neon right now, so I wanted to integrate those colors into this fun and easy recycled bottle project. I know that neon may not be at the top of every brides’s color palette list so keep in mind that you can change the colors to match your wedding (or milestone birthday party, engagement party, etc)! Also, a big thank you to Camryn Clair for shooting this tutorial!
NEON BOTTLE TABLE NUMBERS – A DIY TUTORIAL
***
Materials:
- Empty Glass Bottles
- Sink or Bucket Filled with Warm, Soapy Water
- Adhesive Remover
- An Old Rag
- Dish Drying Rack
- Acrylic Paint in 4 Neon Colors
- Number Stencils
- Masking Tape
- Stencil Brushes
- Paper Plate
Step by Step Instructions:
1. Take your empty glass bottles and soak them in warm soapy water to get the labels loose for about 30 minutes.
2. Once your bottles have soaked peel off the labels then use the adhesive remover with and the old rag to get any additional residue off.
3. Turn the bottles upside down on the dish drying rack and allow them to thoroughly dry.
4. Once the bottles have dried take one color of your paint and slowly squirt the paint inside the bottle while turning it.
5. Keep turning as the paint flows down the inside of the bottle.
6. Stand the bottle up right and allow the paint to fully run down the inside of the bottle. If there are any gaps in the paint squirt more paint into the bottle and turn until all the areas are covered thoroughly.
7. Take the number you would like stenciled on the bottle and tape it down in the spot you would like.
8. Now squirt a dab of a different paint color on the paper plate.
9. Dip your stencil brush in the paint and then on a clean part of the plate lightly dab off the excess paint.
10. Then dab the brush it over the stencil until the desired coverage is achieved.
11. Remove the stencil once the paint has dried and ta dah you’re done! Repeat this process until you have made 1 bottle for each table at your wedding.
12. Place each numbered bottle on the desired table at your wedding for guests to easily find their assigned tables.
HELPFUL HINTS:
- Depending on how thick you coated the inside of the your bottles it may take several days or even weeks for the paint to dry so be sure not to turn the bottles upside down or the paint could drip out.
- You will want to make these well in advance to allow ample drying time after you wash and clean the bottles and also after you “paint” them.
- Make plenty of extras since you will not know your official headcount until at least 2 weeks until your wedding day.
- The typical table size used at weddings is a 72″ round which will seat 10-12 guests. Knowing these little details will help you get a more accurate table number count. :)
