DIY Tutorial: {Hanging} Paper Bag Stars
Surprise… those wonderfully inexpensive brown paper bags in your pantry are good for more than just lunch! Deanna of Mirabelle Creations was kind enough to share a step-by-step tutorial on how you can {easily} create cool hanging paper stars from this ever-so-humble lunch staple.
You can also use white or colored paper bags in different sizes to mix things up a bit. Maybe even try making a GIANT version from grocery sized bags! That could be fun! =)

Paper Bag Hanging Stars Tutorial
by Deanna Talwalkar of Mirabelle Creations
“Hanging stars made out of paper bags add a rustic look to a Fourth of July or Patriotic themed table, without you having to spend a lot of money. Here are the simple steps to making your own:
You will need:
- 5 Gusseted Paper Bags
- Double-sided Tape
- String
- Scissors
- Hole Punch.
Instructions:
1. Cut off the end of all of the paper bags.
2. Stack all 5 paper bags and cut the other ends into a point.
3. Place two pieces of double sided tape on either side of each paper bag, near the ends.
4. Stack all 5 paper bags together and punch a hole in the bottom, middle. Tie the bags together with string, not too tightly.
5. Join the two ends together to make your star.
You could also use 6 paper bags and cut the ends in a rounded shape to make a flower. I used white paper bags to make this hanging paper bag flower {pictured below}. Party shops carry an array of colorful bags though, so don’t feel limited to just white or tan!”

Thanks for featuring this tutorial!
Love it.. its so cute!
What a great idea and with the tutorial it looks super easy! Do you recommend making them out of any other materials besides paper bags? Maybe tissue paper for other colors? What do you think…
Thanks for sharing!

These are so fun! I have made these out of treat/favor bags from the dollar store, though you need more per flower, because the bags are smaller. You can also spray paint the bags any color you desire, with light coats.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I used it to make decorations for my daughter’s first birthday :) https://amyagimudie.wordpress.com/2012/10/24/gabriellas-1st-birthday-party/
