PARTY DETAILS, as told by Kiira…

For my closest friend Amy, I wanted to create a truly special event to celebrate Hayley’s arrival. This vintage watercolor inspired baby shower was thoughtfully styled with tons of delicate details, handpainted crepe paper, lots of do-it-yourself decorations, and delicious bite sized breakfast foods. I wanted a very whimsical and feminine feeling when guests arrived. I used hints of lace, torn fabric, mason jars and hemp twine as small details to make every item feel special. Using watercolors, I created ombre color swatches of rose, yellow and turquoise to inspire the color palette. I was on a tight budget, so I made all of the decorations myself, and you can find tutorials on my website for them. Everything was DIY, from the crepe paper balls to the paint chip garlands, the chalkboard signs to the cake plate and all the paper goods. It’s easy to throw a beautiful party on a budget! All of the food and cake was homemade by myself and a few close friends, except for the Krispy Kreme donuts of course. On the menu was sausage & egg strata, muffins, a brown-sugar french toast bake, tater tots, mini quiches, cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. For our beverage table, a “bubbly bar” with champagne, fruit puree and fresh fruit, as well as some non-alcoholic mixers for our preggo guest of honor.

The invitations and all the paper goods I designed and printed myself. For the guest table I created a sign-up sheet to bring meals for the parents, and a “wishes for Hayley” station where guests write personal messages for baby and hang them to dyed fabric strands hanging from a tree. I had a table with fabric paint and masking tape with all white onesies of varying sizes for guests to paint a personalized onesie.

Overall, the baby shower was a beautiful event and I greatly treasure having the opportunity to host this for my friend Amy.

I love the meal sign up! When I had my youngest all the neighbors brought over meals. It was the BEST thing ever. I never thought of incorporating it into a party. Awesome idea!
