Fabulous Find: My Party Is Over! {Resale Party Supplies}
After spending significant time and money making a party special, certain parts of the “after party” can be somewhat disheartening. You know what I’m referring to… the inevitable time when the fabulous centerpiece, garland, birthday costume, etc. that you spent all that time/money on is suddenly faced with a lonely future that looks just like the inside of a cardboard box – and one that’s most likely stashed away in the attic or garage. Shouldn’t it be busy pretty-ing up another party instead?
THE SOLUTION
After people kept asking Nancy of A to Zebra Celebrations if they could buy the decor from her own past parties, a lightbulb went off – and she decided to open My Party Is Over! – a marketplace for anyone to buy or sell party decor!

HWTM: This is such a great idea, Nancy! What motivated you to launch MyPartyIsOver.com?
Nancy: I opened my Etsy shop back in October 2009. All of my items are handmade and designed by me. My customers often ask if I can sell whatever I used on my daughters’ parties. Some people also have asked me where to sell their party decorations after their party is over. I researched for a place to do this, but I only found a few wedding resale sites- nothing for all parties. So the idea was born!
HWTM: What types of items are selling best so far?
Nancy: Party banners are selling the most, in addition to party decor such as centerpieces, table runners, candle holders, vases, favors, etc.
HWTM: Do you have any tips for pricing?
Nancy: Pricing your items fairly will help them sell! I suggest: 25-30% off the retail price for new items and 50-60% off the retail price for used ones. Sell your items on the low end if you really want them out of your closet – people come looking for a great bargain!
HWTM: What’s been the biggest surprise so far?
Nancy: The traffic to the site, in addition to how quickly items have sold. We actually need more sellers in order fulfill the demand from buyers! The feedback from fans has been extremely positive.

This is an amazing idea!!!! Being that I run an Etsy shop myself that sells all printable party decor, I oftentimes buy props and party items for a specific theme to stage and take pictures of my printables, but my inventory of items is adding up, and I didn’t know what to do with it all until now YAY!!! I wish you much luck and success with the website, and I will definitely be listing lots of my items :-)
