Creative mommy, Melissa Wilson, painted up a Colorful “Fiesta de Arte” Twins Birthday Party for her newly TRES year-olds Mason y Victoria! Some of my favorite details are the incredible matching party theme cookies from You Can Call Me Sweetie, adorable Mexican style birthday outfits, and “The Earth without Art is just Eh” custom sign-in from Whatchawant Design. Melissa’s combination of two different themes is truly a *masterpiece*, so I can’t wait so see where her imagination leads her next year!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Melissa…

For my Twins Third Birthday I wanted to create something interactive and unique to their personalities with a fun twist on the theme. I decided an Art Party would be a great way to celebrate the little masterpieces that they are becoming but we added a Mexican Twist for some spice and fun. This added a Latin element from a country we love and a language we are teaching our kids. Alas the “Fiesta De Arte” theme was born! It took several months to plan and I think it was definitely a Fiesta like no other.

I created the party around three main elements, the word TRES, Fiesta and Art. These were incorporated into everything beginning with their birthday photos shoot, the party invitation and all other party elements that followed.

I had the talented Devin Hunt from Illustrate The Date draw the caricature invitation based on photos I sent him of Mason & Victoria incorporating the Fiesta De Arte theme with their outfits.

The second piece that helped the party come to life was part of the cake table. Lisa Whittaker from The Little Gift Box painted wooden Kokeshi style peg dolls to match the invitation which I used at cake toppers. She added the word TRES underneath and party date as a keepsake. They were spectacular, molded with clay hair, a flower crown and a sombrero.

We had a lot of DIY elements including the Drink Stand built by my amazing in-laws which we have used for the last three birthday parties. The over sized wooden easels for the canvases to lean on and the kids to paint was built by my husband and the goody bags which are reusable fabric bags were made by me.

I love photo booths and incorporate them into just about every party I ever throw so it is always appropriate to find a way to have one. I used 3 yards of fabric, colored lights, a crate full of props including boas, Fiesta hats, tutus, beads and printable masks from Paper and Cake. All you had to do was say cheese!

The goody bags were made by me and my small business The Sheep Sac and they are always a hit. They are reusable fabric bags, fully lined with a sewn on ribbon that can be used again for just about anything. I have been making these for years for holidays, birthdays and any occasion. As long as I am able to find fabric to match the theme the possibilities are endless. My kids love to reuse them to store toys and take their treasures with them.

Jessie from Perched Owl created all of my return address labels and the Thank You notes I tied to the Fabric Goody Bags that read “Gracias Por Pintar Mason & Victoria”

I also wanted to include something that my kids could keep as a memory of everyone that was there to celebrate so Kelly Kriger from Whatchawant Design created a gorgeous custom sign-in board of a tree with a hanging Pinata that read “The Earth without Art is just Eh” We asked all guests to “leaf” their fingerprint and their name.

Back to the cake table and to the delicious elements that made it complete. I incorporated TRES with a custom backdrop from Pepper Lu that they created for me. I added Paper Fans to the backdrop for a 3D effect on top of their design by Via Blossom.

What is an art party without a Funfetti Cake! Cake is a big deal for me always! My amazing and delicious cake was provided by the One and Only Kristen from Cloud 9 Bakery It was a barely naked Funfetti Cake inspired by the Momofuku Birthday Cake with crumbles around all the edges and top. If you don’t know Kristen find her now! You are missing out on the most amazing desserts your taste buds have ever met. Cloud 9 also created the cookie cake palette and lemon and blueberry gooey bars, yumm!

The most gorgeous cookies you will lay your eyes on were provided by the most talented, sweetest and gorgeous cookie artist Sandie from You Can Call Me Sweetie. Find her on Instagram or FB fast. You wont find anything like what she does.

Chocolate Covered Oreos and Brigaderia’s which are Brazilian Truffles provided by the great talents of Jessie at Sugar Loaf Brigdaeria.

All sweets had the “Fiesta De Arte’ elements and flair.

For sweets placement I used a tabletop Fiesta Food Truck from Via Blossom, two green cake stands and a wooden plate also with a green rim. A Pinata for that additional flair sat on the table and Confetti Tassel Balloons from Aide at Dyanis Memory Box at each side of the table.

For additional decorations I used Papel Picado that I purchased in Mexico, paper flowers and a tassel garland on the drink stand from Aide at Dyanis Memory Box. I painted the Aguas Frias sign on the drink stand again tying in color and flair.

We served lunch from Chipotle and filled a wagon with drinks for all the guests.

To complete the Fiesta De Arte we had additional painting activities for the kids including tables set up with wooden bird houses, wooden race cars, wooden maracas and wooden lizards giving them another opportunity to use their artistic skills. Centerpieces were mini colored cactus placed in candle votives as well as several pots covered in the same fabric as the goody bags.

Last but not least an Art Party isn’t complete without a face painter and a little bouncing to release some energy. We had a bounce house and Curly Sue, an award-winning Face Painter and Entertainer painted faces, arms and hands for several hours. She did an amazing job and her talent is outstanding. All of the kids loved her.

Mason & Victoria wore tops I purchased in Mexican on a recent visit and we all had something yellow in our outfits to match. They both had a great time and truly enjoyed their special day. Mason & Victoria were excited to show everyone their 3 little fingers! HAPPY TRES!
