the tale of peter rabbit first birthday party

Alina Wall styled and photographed this sweet and amazing Peter Rabbit First Birthday for her son. I love the shabby chic & vintage feel of this outdoor party – from the furniture to the dessert dishes to the birthday boy’s outfit! And one thing here that you definitely don’t see every day — real live (& adorable) bunnies were let out of their cages for some super fun “bunny racing”! Lucky for the rabbits, these party guests are much nicer than the story’s farmer, Mr. McGregor. ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Creative cupcakes topped with Peter Rabbit character silhouettes & fondant carrots
  • Lots of garden veggies (LOVE the idea of holing out a head of lettuce for dip!)
  • Gorgeous cookies featuring story illustrations + a blue ruffle smash cake
  • Super cute vintage decor: old suitcases, watering can centerpieces & the most beautiful baby buggy!
  • Big red barn as the perfect party backdrop + lovely quilted cake topped with Peter Rabbit, of course!

PARTY DETAILS as told by Alina

I remember the day the Peter Rabbit birthday theme just came to me and the moment I realized it would be perfect for my sweet little boy. I was shooting his six month session, and I remembered purchasing this sweet little Petter Rabbit stuffed toy at a book store years before I became a mom, knowing that one day, it would sit on a shelf in my baby’s room. I had always loved Beatrix Potter stories ever since my second grade teacher introduced and read it to her students many years ago. I wanted something classic and beautiful with a bit of history for my son to hold onto. His little Petter Rabbit bunny and collections of Beatrix Potter stories that now line his shelves always remind me of my childhood and how precious those memories are to me.

Food & Drinks

The cakes and desserts were beautifully made by Crystallized Cake. I filled the Apothecary dispenser with Ice tea & Lemon and Blue Punch and served the drinks in personalized DIY chalkboard painted mason jars with striped straws personalized with “Jackson’s first birthday.”

  • Beatrix Potter Mini Books
  • Peter Rabbit Jelly Belly’s
