Ghoulish Glam Halloween – Part 1 {Theme Inspiration}
I’m getting so excited for the Hip Hostess Halloween event in Dallas this Thursday! The last of the boxes just shipped out to the venue today, and Sonny and I head out tomorrow, so the countdown is officially on…
For those of you that can’t join us for the party, I’m still going to cover several of the tips & ideas from the event’s “Ghoulish Glam Halloween” theme on the blog & website all week long, starting… right now!
GHOULISH GLAM HALLOWEEN- Topic #1: Go for an ultra-glamorous, flapper-inspired look with a creepy twist.
- Look for accessories that combine an element of glam + an element of ghoul – like this rhinestone studded Black Widow Necklace ($5.99) from buy-costumes.com. Display the pieces on ornament stands or jewelry trees, or use them to decorate skeletons, Halloween sculptural figures, centerpieces, etc.
- Dress up vases or glass cylinders with inexpensive costume jewelry – like the Vintage Choker Necklace ($5.99) pictured below, which is simply wrapped around the vase and fastened in back.
- Feather it up! Feather boas, marabou craft boa, and ostrich plumes are easy ways to give your party a glamorous, flapper-inspired vibe. Instead of flowers, display “bouquets” of black and white feathers in vases, and “dress up” skeletons and Halloween sculptural figures with sequin-and-feather flapper headbands.
- Mix in creepy face masks. Blank white face masks integrate well black & white flapper accessories and are seriously disturbing all on their own! Available on wood dowels or all by themselves…all you need to do is throw on a quick coat of glossy white spray paint to give them a contemporary, finished look – and they’re ready to go! Attach masks to clear cylinder vases with lit candles inside, or display them throughout your party as desired. Hang black spiders from empty eye sockets for an eerie embellishment. Dowel-attached masks can be easily inserted into vases & centerpieces.
…tune in tomorrow for Ghoulish Glam Part 2: The Tablescape!

Why are those masks so creepy? This is truly fabulous, Jenn! The choker as a vase accent is so clever…I’m excited to see part 2!
