Slammin’ Softball 10th Birthday {Tween Party}
Jeannette Rivas of J at Your Service hit a home run with this Slammin’ Softball Birthday Party for her daughter. The outside-the-box color palette for a young old girl is too cool (pink is nowhere in sight!), and I’m especially loving the tough-looking cake topper… that little fondant softball player is not messing around. ;) With lots of yummy treats and fun games, including an awesome batting cages area, this birthday celebration is definitely a winner.
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Mini Foam Fingers, rock candy ‘softball bats’ + a superstar cake with a big red bow
- Awesome retro hot dog stand and clever softball-glove-turned-candy-dish
- Chocolate-covered apple softballs (that would be awesome in white for baseballs too!)
- Favor buttons with cheeky phrases like “THROW like a girl” and “no place like HOME“
PARTY DETAILS as told by Jeannette…
I’m excited to share with you the party I put together for my new tween daughter. It was her 10th birthday and we had a softball themed party. She loves the sport and has been playing for about 2 years now. She’s not much of a girly-girl and is not a fan of the color pink. We decided on using her favorite colors, red, blue and black. I asked Michele of Intrigue Design to create a softball girl graphic with some attitude and she delivered perfection! I used the graphic to create the invitations, as well as some other elements to the party.
I had a custom jersey made for the birthday girl, with her name on it by a local screen printing shop. Pink Laundry Events made a beautiful hair bow for her to wear as well.
The Favors
I created softball themed subway art for the backdrop of the favor table. I made labels for the gable boxes that we handed out, which were adorned with a hair bow. I bought cute mini foam fingers and spray painted an old helmet that I purchased from the Goodwill. Tini Posh made super cute button pin printables and I was able to assemble myself to display. I also laid out eye blacks for the girls to wear.
The Dessert Table
Started with creating a chalkboard-like scoreboard to use as a backdrop and hung bunting on each side. I served bags of popcorn, yellow gumballs displayed in a glove, sour candy balls and rock candy “bats.” I added labels with my daughter’s name over David Sunflower Seeds. I designed Gatorade bottle labels for the drinks that were displayed. MKR Creations made the cutest softball theme chocolate covered apples, they were delish! I built mini bleachers to display those apples as well. My favorite element of the this table is the cake. Silvia’s Cake Creations made an incredible cake and Sugar High created a cake topper. It was identical to the graphic that was designed for me, it was amazing! I had custom wood forks made to match my theme by Sugar Coated Studio.
The Centerpieces
- I used black vases with white daisies. Tini Posh made centerpiece flags that I added to the flower arrangements.
Fun Elements
- I set out a batting net for the kids to try out “batting cages.” We had a small “Snack Bar,” where my oldest daughter served hot dogs, nachos and taco boats.
- I created a sign for this area and rented a hot dog stand for a fun snack bar feel.

U did an Awesome Job
I absolutely love it – but at the same time blown away thinking about what one would spend on a party such as this!! Of course, we all love our kids but what ever happened to keeping it simple with pizza and friends over?
