Pretty Lovely Events dreamed up such a lovely celebration with this creative “Alice Meets Antoinette Wedding Tablescape“! I just love how she paired 2 unique themes/characters for this inspired design. As Stephanie describes the idea herself: “Think Marie Antoinette and Alice in Wonderland with a touch of hippie“. Long story short, don’t be afraid to mix different themes, because beautiful new designs (like this one) can emerge!

This was my first opportunity to work with local vendors in southeastern Oklahoma to create my very own wedding tablescape and I was extremely excited! I knew I wanted to use some of my favorite colors of the season, blush and gold. I’d seen this color palette used in many formal tablescapes, but I wanted to give it an effortless, whimsical feel. Think Marie Antoinette and Alice in Wonderland with a touch of hippie.

For months, I have been infatuated with the voluminous, feathered Marilyn chair skirts from Wildflower Linens and this was the perfect excuse to use them! As I began putting the table together with strictly blush and gold colors, it somehow fell flat of the funky vibe I had envisioned. It needed more color! The moment I chose to add a satin turquoise linen, all the colors began to pop. I had my heart set on using a tufted vintage sofa on one side of the banquet table to evoke a mismatched elegance. Luckily, Lisa at Studio One Photography was kind enough to allow me to borrow her pale pink beauty that worked like a charm with my tablescape. I added a few pillows with gold sequins and shabby chic roses to cozy up the couch. To mimic the look of a rose topiary, I asked Tammy from Bokchito Flower and Gifts to create a looser version with roses and hydrangea to be placed on top of the vintage gold candelabra, which I had adorned with strands of crystals. For the place settings, I gathered vintage china from family and friends to create an eclectic look. The teacup and saucers have been passed down in my family for generations and they were the perfect showpiece to hold the precious gold and pink macaroons provided by Lauran at Stacked Studio Cake Designs.

I love using items I already own to enhance my tablescapes and make the most of my budget. Most of the clients I work with do not have enormous wedding budgets, but I’m passionate about creating memorable, personalized, and breathtaking weddings on any budget. To spice up the glassware, I decided to add crystals which I had left over from a chandelier in my home. They came out so wonderfully unique and luxurious and didn’t cost a dime. The textured silk napkins were actually pillow covers I folded into thirds. The mercury glass hurricane vases from TJ Maxx were adorned with gold ribbon and sparkly Christmas ornaments. To bring in my touch of hippie, I used long, white feather earrings with a gold and rhinestone detail to tuck under the plates and trail down the napkins.

We chose to shoot my tablescape in a local field to elicit the countryside. I suspended a chandelier from a tree branch to float above my tablescape and left everything else up to the surrounding nature! It was such a beautiful location, but comfortable enough to sit down for a picnic. We even had a few neighborhood pets join the shoot and enjoy a macaroon or two.
