A 90th birthday is definitely a reason to throw a party! Kelli Hart of Lizzie Bella Weddings & Events dreamed up this “Having a Ball Since 1923” Mason Jar Inspired 90th Birthday Celebration for Jean’s big day! The pretty blue hues, embellished mason jars & nostalgic balloon photo display made this already special milestone feel like a truly marvelous occasion!

This event was started off as a request from one of Jean’s granddaughters. She wanted to do something really nice and sweet for her grandmother that would include the family home and family members. She had seen a few of our events on facebook and contact us about creating a theme and event for her grandmother. I jumped at the opportunity to do something special for her grandmother because my grandmother is around her grandmother’s age and it’s so special to be able to celebrate with them at this season of their lives.

I was searching around to find inspiration when I saw a blue mason jar online. I had already been told that blue was Jean’s favorite color so it was a perfect match! I found a fabulous vendor on etsy, Treats by Trish, who actually made mason jar cookies that said “Having a Ball since 1923” and that sealed the deal!  I

decided to use all different shades of blue for her party.  I wanted the guests to feel special too, considering that her circle of friends would be there to celebrate with her.  I used the blue mason jars and customized them with ribbon and embellishments to make them beautiful.  I used white peonies and baby breath to create a sweet and vintage floral arrangement, using mason jars and ribbon as well. It was simply gorgeous! I used some white picture frames I already had to include some great quotes about birthdays and getting older.  I used a table runner and silk napkins that I had previously found at Pier One and we used the plates and cutlery that they already at the family home. For the placecards, I simply attached a glittered clothes pin to a gift tag and it worked!

The welcome sign was designed by another etsy artisan, The Tickled Teal Paperie. I contacted my favorite baker, Tayari Jones of Tayari! for some beautiful and delicious cupcakes. The custom cookies were done by Treats by Trish. The homemade poundcake was done by one of favorite church family members, Lilly. And the added sweet bonus was a few chocolate covered strawberries from Sweet Stuff by Celita.

I really wanted the family to be able to remember old times and to create a conversation piece, I got Jean’s son to collect several photos for me. I attached them to some balloons and it was breathtakingly gorgeous! The family really enjoyed looking at the photos.  It was an awesome event!
