PARTY DETAILS, as told by Kelly

***

Invitation & Entrance

  • Guests were invited with a pink & white gingham check party invitation in our new flourish shape.
  • It set the tone for a classic, yet festive birthday party.
  • The day of the party, guests were welcomed into the house by a jumbo-balloon lined front path, and Hello Kitty hanging welcome sign.
  • Upon entering the house, they were “wow’d” by a cluster of hanging pomander balls in the foyer, made from carnations, you will see we repeated this look throughout the party.

Kids Table

  • The children had their own, very special table: a low table covered in black linens with a table runner made from our custom bow lattice fabric, hot pink chairs, and three darling centerpieces.
  • Two of them were polka dot-covered cases with dense pink carnations and coordinating centerpiece sticks, and the very special one in the center of the table was a hello kitty head made completely of flowers!  Children snacked on pb&j sandwiches cut in the shape of bows, strawberry milk in plastic milk bottles with straws, and even had mini water bottles perfect for a break from jumping in the bouncy castle.

Adult Table

  • The adult tables were scattered about inside and out, and featured a mixture of hot pink silk tablecloths, and black and white polka dot ones.  Silver, footed vessels held gorgeous arrangements of pink roses.
  • The yard was decorated with balloons, and a few different seating areas for people to relax in.  Their outdoor living room was dressed up with throw pillows made from our coordinating custom fabric in gingham check and bow lattice patterns.
  • And my favorite part….the black and white cabana striped tent, which held a seating arrangement of modern white chairs and chaises, and big hot pink throw pillows.  It was the perfect spot to relax while enjoying a “meow mojito”.

Buffet Table

A Fare Extraordinare did an amazing job setting up the buffet table.  Playing with different heights of pink rose floral arrangements and serving vessels, they managed to arrange the food in a beautiful way, but still brought in a few modern ideas.  My favorite being the way the lifted the tray of sandwiches up and placed a tray full of votives underneath to not only keep them warm, but also create a magical glow on the table.  Some of the coordinating details included napkin rings, and pink gingham check food tent cards.

Dessert Table

The dessert table was definitely a highlight of the party!  You can view the 2-D design in the custom party plan, and it is SO FUN to see how she executed the vision PERFECTLY.  A custom designed fabric backdrop featured the birthday girl’s name and age, and the table was flanked by two pink carnation topiary trees with a pennant banner sailing above the table, which created a fabulous vertical element to the design.

Desserts included all pink candy – gumballs, gummies, rock candy, ribbon candy, m&m’s, hershey kisses with coordinating stickers on them – brownie bites with 3-D pink fondant bows from Two Sugar Babies, polka dot chocolate-covered oreos from Sweeties by Kim, bow cookies by The Cookie Jar, Hello Kitty Cake Pops by Angie’s Cakes, pink macarons, and darling cupcakes from Celebrity Cupcakes.  The table was accented with our gingham food tent cards and candy jar tags, and a black tablecloth was used to make the white serving plates and stands really pop! Pink gingham paper bags were dressed up with our kitty sticker, and were readily available for people to fill up with candy to bring home.

Cake

The cake had it’s own special table this year.  Covered in a pink tablecloth with a polka dot topper, the cake by Cakes by Gina was spectacular!  Three tiers featuring our custom patterns made by fondant, and a 3-D “3” topper with flowers that spiked off the top tier….it was quite a work of art!

Favors & Activities

A party favor table was set up for kids to grab their goodies on the way out of the party.  A coordinating 8×10 sign was placed center stage along with cello bags full of hello kitty shaped crayons, tied with ribbon and our coordinating gift tags, and Hello Kitty and Frog stuffed animals for each child to take.  There was also face painting, a portrait artist and a visit from Hello Kitty to make the day complete!

Where did you find the polka dot containers for the flowers?

  6. Kelly @ WH Hostess January 20, 2013 at 11:29 am

@Jennifer, the containers were actually just basic glass vases that were wrapped in our coordinating polka dot paper and embellished with ribbon. It’s a great trick that you can use for any party with wrapping paper or scrapbook paper.
