PARTY DETAILS, as told by Rebecca

“My husband, Mr. Lemon, and I hosted our block’s annual holiday party.  This is the one block event each year that is just for the grown-ups – a bit of a night out for the parents on the street!  For the party, I decided to put together a coffee and hot chocolate bar complete with toppings and stir-ins.  Even though kids weren’t at our event, the idea would work just as well for an event with children since it’s so easy to make both adult and kid versions of the drinks!

The main centerpiece of the table was a large vase filled with white, glittered curly willow (this was quite the DIY project that resulted in glitter EVERYWHERE!).  I added crystal snowflakes and a few paper animal ornaments throughout the curly willow in the party colors of aqua, lime green and red.  I love how the white branches really pop in front of the red canvas!  The banner was made from a table runner that wasn’t quite long enough for my table, but I had held onto it because I loved the colors and pictures.  I re-purposed it by cutting each square apart and attaching them to a ribbon.  I was so happy to incorporate it into the table in a new way!

Toppings included chocolate, mini and regular marshmallows, candy canes, chocolate chips, and whipped cream.  We also had mini donuts, Pirouline cookies,  and meringues for dipping and munching.  Stir-ins for the hot chocolate and coffee included Bailey’s and Creme de Cacao, but flavored syrups and creamers would also be so yummy to have on hand!

I was very excited to find (free!) printables from Hostess with the Mostess that matched perfectly with the party theme and colors!  They were exactly what I was looking for to add a bit of extra color and charm to the table!

The little flavored shakers from Harry & David actually inspired the entire table!  I loved their non-traditional take on holiday colors and the mod patterns used.  Plus, it was so fun to add some cocoa, vanilla or cinnamon on top of the whipped cream!  These could easily be recreated with spice jars wrapped in matching papers.
Happy Holidays from our neighborhood to yours!”
