Cheerful Japanese Kimmidoll Themed Party
Konnichiwa! Gorgeous Cherry Blossom inspiration, playful Kimmidoll designs and tasty Pocky snacks are my favorite parts of this Cheerful Japanese Kimmidoll Themed Party from Justine of Pretty Little Vintage Melbourne and Parties Party Planner. There are really so many things to touch on though- traditional inspired sweets, plenty of paper lanterns and a Japanese style kids table… this cheerful party is just so cute and blooming with inspiration!
P.S. If you loved the Cherry Blossoms in this party, then you NEED to see this “Love In Blossom” Wedding… and learn how to make the decor here and here.

- Furoshiki Favors (Japanese traditional fabric gift wrapping!)

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Justine…
Decor
- This is a Japanese Kimmidoll inspired 2nd birthday party that was styled in collaboration with Parties- Party Planner in Malaysia.
- As the party was held overseas (we are based in Melbourne, Australia), all of the concept and planning were done from Melbourne and the execution of the party took place just a day after we touched down in Kuala Lumpur.
- It is one of our favourite parties as we had the opportunity to transform a restaurant’s VIP dining area into a little Japanese garden as our theme; with bursts of colors and culture from the land of the rising sun.
Kid’s Japanese Table & Furoshiki Favours
- A Japanese style table setting was setup for the kids and was placed on astro turf alongside cherry blossom plants and colourful Japanese parosols to emulate a Japanese tea garden.
- Each place setting encompassed a Japanese bento set with a fabric-wrapped traditional Japanese Furoshiki favour box, filled with an assortment of authentic Japanese candy and products.
- The centrepiece featured a fish bowl of 8 swimming fish that provided much amusement to the kids throughout the party.
- After the party the fish were safely released into the birthday girl’s very own fish pond as a keepsake from her birthday.
Origami PhotoBooth & Giants Paper Cranes
- We loved incorporating origami art into our party so when it came to the photobooth, we created an origami fan photo backdrop that was embellished with paper lanterns and japanese parasols.
- We also designed a life size Kimmidoll cutout birthday sign to welcome the guests.
- The venue was also filled with colorful giant hanging paper cranes & paper lanterns- a true japanese staple.
Activities (Geisha Face Painting & Japanese Crafting):
- A geisha face painting booth was setup along with an origami and craft table to entertain the kids using personalised colouring sheets and origami instructions sheets.
Japanese Desert Tables
- The main feature of the dessert table is the 30cm tall 3D Kimmidoll cake that was baked by the talented Xiao by Crustz.
- Our dessert table featured a variety of Japanese inpired sweets such as Green tea pudding served in oriental teacups, hand piped Kimmidoll shaped macarons, Kimmidoll cupcakes, Japanese paper fan and Kimono styled biscuits, sushi-shaped candy imported from Japan and a variety of other Japanese candy and treats.
- Candy bags were handstamped with custom designed Kimmidoll ink stamps.
