Little Man First Birthday Party {Mustache Bash}
Proud Mom, Jessica, celebrated her son Bodhi with a super cute {and mustache bedecked} Little Man First Birthday Party. I just can’t get enough of the clever framed prints using the trendy “mustache” rephrasing, and the super cool backdrops she made, featuring modern stripes and playful zig zag streamers.
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Adorable smash cake with fondant bunting + bow tie topper
- Auntie’s sugar cookies in the shape of ties decorated with different patterns
- Thoughtful “a wish for Bodhi” station with keepsake notes from loved ones
- Ridiculously cute “little man” outfit on the birthday boy!
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Jessica…
Although I’ve seen the “little man” theme done many times, I couldn’t help but plan this theme for my son’s first birthday party! We have called him “little man” and “Bodeman” since he was born so it was a very fitting theme. We also this felt like our only chance to avoid cartoons and other typical little boy birthday party themes. We know that once he is just a little older he will have an opinion about his party and we’ll want to do something more childish.
I worked with Shana from Belva June on the color palette which really helped direct the rest of my work including the easy DIY dessert table backdrop, party favors, poms, etc.
I was obsessed with the idea of making bowties for all of Bodhi’s little friends so that was another key factor in the decision to go with the “little man” theme.
Party favors were bowties for little boys, hair bows for little girls and chocolate mustache pops for the adults.
I reused a vintage Samsonite suitcase that we own and a little suitcase set from Bodhi’s room for decorations.
My favorite detail is the “a wish for Bodhi” station. He has some of the sweetest notes from all of his favorite people saved in a book for when he is older. And of course, having Wing of Canary Grey Photography at the party to capture all of the special moments is something we are so thankful for.
My mom also created a game that was simple since most of the guests were under the age of two. The game was called “Peek-a-Bow-dhi” which basically had a bowtie with a door that you open and get a prize. It was simple, but all of the kids loved it.
DIY tutorials for making the bowtie favors and the dessert table backdrop are on my blog livethefancylife.com.

LOVE this idea for a party! We will be making an invitation that is similar because it is just way too adorable not to. We all call our baby boys little men, because they look like little old men. LOL! Can't get enough of this!
I love this! What a cute idea, I have all girls but will tell my girlfriends with boys about this :)
