love shack luau party

Iris & Chris of Sweet Metel Moments recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary in paradise style! Inspired by their love of the beach, they hosted a colorful Love Shack Luau Party (so clever!). Iris designed an adorable set of surfboard and hibiscus adorned printables for the party, which is full of great inspiration for any Luau themed celebration. (BTW – I’m a big fan of milestone anniversary celebrations… you might remember the crazy Hangover Party Sonny and I hosted for our own 10 year a while back!) :)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Beautiful grocery-store-bought tier cake embellished with silk orchids ($30 total!)
  • DIY flower & rhinestone embellished snack cups (with a link to the tutorial from Iris!)
  • Starfish sugar cookie party favors and leis for each guest

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Iris

Since my husband and I both love the beach, we decided to have a “Love Shack” luau-themed party to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary.  I created custom printables in bright colors and images of hibiscus and surfboards.

The dessert table was the main attraction.  I used a white-ruffled curtain panel as the backdrop and hung a custom-made surf shack painting in the center along with green and blue paper lanterns.  The painting was a gift from my very talented brother-in-law and artist, Adam Metel, and one of the very first paintings that my husband and I owned when we got married, so it has a very special place in our hearts.

At the center of the dessert table was a 2-tiered cake adorned with pink and green flowers.  I purchased the cake from Publix and asked for a simple, white, 2-tiered cake with white piping, and then to have it match the theme, I simply embellished it with silk flowers that I purchased from Hobby Lobby.  It was a great deal for $30!

For additional treats there were cupcakes,  and chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate covered raisins that were put inside little DIY snack cups (DIY snack cup tutorial here).  The snack cups were perfect for the kids to grab and go!  There were also the most adorable starfish cookies that were created by Meredith of Cookie Friends.  She was able to match the colors perfectly to our theme and not only did the cookies look great, but they were also delicious!

And another item on the dessert table that I had the most fun creating were gummy fruit skewers!  I used the tutorial from Anna and Blue Paperie’s blog and I placed them in little white containers that I filled with blue Sixlets.  There was also a separate table for the kids that had more gummy fruit skewers and starfish cookie favors.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating with our family!

Amazing. Your Mom needs to give classes teaching us how to raise, beautiful, smart, talented, creative daughters. Why can't my sisters be hostesses with the mostesses?
