If you’re looking to create an atmosphere that’s striking and elegant, the Black Orchid collection from MADHOUSE by Michael Aram is the perfect muse! I just L.O.V.E. the artistic flair of this melamine & fine paper tableware, which would be lovely for everything from a classy anytime dinner party to a chic wedding shower or milestone birthday.

THE MADHOUSE BLACK ORCHID COLLECTION

The fabulous sketched orchids featured in this collection instantly struck me, and I really wanted to play up their unique, artistic nature in this tablescape design. I ended up going for a contemporary art sort of look and trying some things I’ve never done before – like creating a centerpiece that was a mix of real AND paper flowers! (Added bonus… since orchids last a long time in general, this entire centerpiece did too + it was WAY less expensive than buying multiple orchid stems!)

I had some fun with Photoshop filters to create the artsy paper orchid silhouettes, and tried to find interesting ways to incorporate them. On the dinner plates they’re elevated by a black river rock, and intended to look like they’re kind of “popping out” of the artwork on the plate… what do you think?

I wasn’t able to incorporate everything into the tablescape design, so here are some additional shots of the other pieces so you can get a good feel for everything this collection entails… starting with a shot of the beautiful Black Orchid Melamine Serving Tray (which would make for a lovely gift idea!) and Translucent Black Melon Tritan™ Goblets, which are crafted from durable plastic, so they can be enjoyed outdoors too!

The paper plates have a metallic/shimmer quality! Definitely not your average paper partyware…

SPARKLING GRAPE COCKTAIL Recipe

Ingredients:
6 cups grape juice
4 cups club soda
10 oz vodka

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Serve over ice and ENJOY!
