A Magical Forest Cinderella Birthday Party
Have courage and be kind… and party with lots of glitter, of course! Maybe the last part isn’t from the new Cinderella movie, but I’m so glad that Shannon Powell of Painting Paris Pink took it to heart! Her Magical Forest Cinderella Birthday Party is a sparkly fairytale of golden butterflies, blue satin ribbons and glittery glass slippers. And speaking of pretty ribbon, I couldn’t agree more when Shannon says, “You can dress up any serving piece with a simple satin ribbon and a 2″ party circle.” I’m a firm believer that the smallest details often have the biggest impact, like those amazing decorated “ELLA” letters below…
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- Glitter fairy wands with blue satin bows in custom painted mason jars from Always the Occasion
- DIY glittered glass slipper cake topper + whimsical blue and gold fondant butterfly cupcake toppers
- Blue tutu birthday girl dress, framed “ELLA” party banner and confetti filled balloons
- Gold framed Cinderella quote signs + paper white pumpkin carriage decorations from 2clvr Designs
PARTY DETAILS, as told by Shannon…
When I saw the new Cinderella movie trailer I knew this would be a style I would want to put into a party. Classical beauty meets sophistication with a fun little flair. The movie gave me such great inspiration and I felt all of the details needed to be perfect. I knew that Lisa C. Warren would capture the details perfectly.
I started with a simple white table linen and layered it with a gold sequin overlay. The focal point of the table was a beautiful cake from Kima’s Konfections. A two-layer white fondant and gold sprinkles cake with a simple baby blue satin bow was the perfect piece for the table. I topped the cake with “glass slippers” that I glittered up using Mod Podge for a finishing touch.
I made custom letters for the name ELLA on the table using spray paint, gold beads, glitter & the most adorable gold 3D butterflies from Kristyn’s Kreations. Kristyn also created the beautiful custom “ELLA” banner that is used on the front of the table as well as being held by our little Cinderella. Using glass serving pieces I filled the table with blue sixlets candy, gold wrapped Rolos & shimmering blue gumballs for pops of color. You can dress up any serving piece with a simple satin ribbon and a 2″ party circle as I did on the glass jar holding the blue Sixlets candy. All of the custom printable signs were made by me.
Sugar Coma Cookies nailed the cookies for this and I felt they needed to be front and center. I placed them on a gold tray with “ice” diamond fillers. The sparkling gold butterflies were perfect and the carriage cookies were absolutely beautiful. Of course, no Cinderella party would be complete without a carriage. 2clvr Designs sent me the most stunning paper carriages to use — complete with ivy & dainty little pearls, they were so gorgeous and were the perfect finishing detail for my table.
I used store-bought cupcakes and dressed them up with glitter cupcake wrappers from our shop to make them stand out. The most stunning detail of the cupcakes was the blue & gold fondant butterfly toppers from Edible Details. Her work is impeccable and it’s always an honor to use her toppers. Adding a little extra sweetness to the table were white pumpkin cake pops from Sparkling Sweets Boutique. The gold, glitter accents and gold leaves on the cake pops were flawless. The gold & blue French macarons from Morsels Party Planning were not only gorgeous to look at but were melt in your mouth delicious.
The custom-made mason jars with a Cinderella carriage & glass slippers from Always The Occasion held the magical fairy Godmother wands that no princess party is complete without. Create Ur Plate added a little extra personalized style with their plate clings to jazz up an otherwise boring plate. I made the design and they printed the clings for me. It’s such a great idea!!
My little model is my oldest daughter, Grace. When she was about 2, she would watch the classic Cinderella movie every single day. It only made sense that she would act out this fairytale. Donning a beautiful, custom tutu dress from Atutudes, she certainly felt like a Princess for the day! Sitting on a park bench, shoes off, confetti filled balloons from Whimzey Events Design Studio in the background was the perfect setting for a dreaming Princess while waiting on her Prince Charming.
