PARTY DETAILS, as told by Anne-Marie…
My client contacted me from another state and informed me that she wouldn’t be in town till the night before her son’s birthday. She needed me to plan and execute her son’s very 1st birthday in 10 days. I, of course was up for the challenge especially since she told me it was Mickey themed. I couldn’t resist incorporating Mickey’s friends and the bright playful colors of Mickey’s Clubhouse. Therefore, I used Mickey’s dominant colors of red, black, white, and yellow into the table linens, chair covers, sashes, centerpieces, balloons, backdrop, and custom made ribbon wreath. Erica from Rae of Sunshine, helped me in a pinch and made the centerpieces for me which the guests took home at the end of the party. I accented them with the Mickey cutouts by using the Mickey and friends cricut cartridge. I used the cartridge for the children table as well. Each place setting had an element of a character from Mickey’s Clubhouse from Mickey’s shorts to Daisy’s hair bow to Donald’s hat. The cartridge also came in handy when I crafted the party hats. The hats I purchased from the local dollar store and used glue dots as the adhesive for the buttons and ears.
In our initial conversation, my client mentioned that she wanted to incorporate fruit in the table decor, so when I came across the Mickey Clubhouse stands with fruit from Edible Arrangements, I couldn’t resist adding them to the table decor. The character favor bags were crafted by Magical Fantasia on Etsy, and I couldn’t have been happier with the craftmanship. All the children were excited to fill their bags with treats and take them home. Cake Dimensions was so amazing in executing the detailed cake and KM Cake Pops made the oreos and cake pops.
Paper plates from Party City were used for the backdrop and I used foam tape to attach it to the 4×6 foam board. I cut out oval shapes from felt adhesive pieces I purchased at Michaels and attached them to the table linens. The arch really tied all the elements of the table together and my client and her guests couldn’t have been happier.
It’s Filipino tradition to cut the hair of your child at his 1 year birthday so I was honored to witness this event and have this experience. He wasn’t too happy with his aunt cutting the hair at the nape of his neck as you can see in the photo, but he is such a CUTIE even with the unhappy expression!
