Delightful Mint & Pink Flamingo Baby Shower
I am absolutely tickled pink by this Delightful Mint & Pink Flamingo Baby Shower, from Marisol Figueroa of Modishly Delish! I mean, what’s not to LOVE about a flamingo in a tutu, right?! There are so many super cute activities as well, from a DIY photo booth (complete with flamingo glasses) to decorating onesies for baby Mila and writing sweet notes in her very first baby book. When it comes to welcoming a baby girl with sweetness and style, this party is definitely on pointe. ;)
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- The most adorable, tutu-wearing fondant flamingo cake topper on a beautiful, mint-ruffle cake
- Tropical flavored treats like mini guava cupcakes, coconut macarons, & watermelon cotton candy
- Beautiful centerpieces with DIY (dollar store!) vases + handmade, tulle tutus for the flamingos
- Gorgeous flamingo sugar cookies and flower-topped mint chocolate meringues
PARTY DETAILS as told by Marisol…
I was recently thrown a co-ed shower for my baby girl who just arrived a little over a week ago. It was more of a laid back, simple event where we gathered for lunch and the only activities were a DIY photo booth and a Onesie decorating station. I was put in charge of the décor and theme. I wanted something different and my top girl theme was flamingo related. So I designed a mommy flamingo standing with her baby flamingo as the motif of the paper products and used a modern mint green circle print to go along with them. I used this motif in the invitations, menus, food labels, escort cards, onesie hangtags and table numbers.
I purchased a pink overlapping rounded square bolt of fabric and cut down the pieces to use as table linens, photo booth backdrop and a few other details like the escort card background. I took a mix of glass vases (most purchased at the dollar store) and had them spray painted in a mint green by a relative. What a difference a can of paint can make! Most of the vases were wrapped with pink satin ribbon. I used simple white flowers such as hydrangeas and baby’s breath. The flamingos actually came in a hot pink which didn’t work for me so I also had them painted in a ballet pink. I then gathered mint green tulle along with thin black satin ribbon and made each flamingo a tutu. Those were the centerpieces.
I found some pretty great Etsy sellers to create additions to the dessert table. I mean look at that cake topper! All of the artisans took my rosette in the hair, tutu wearing flamingo idea and brought them to life. I made the backdrop of the dessert table, along with the mini Nutella cheesecakes. I added some more pizzazz to the coconut macaroons and drizzled Nutella over them, yes I love Nutella! A friend had made and given me the small plastic boxes so I put mini mint chocolate chip meringues inside. I found packaged mint colored cotton candy at the grocery store and put those in little containers, both were great take home goodies.
I used a lot of items I already had like cake stands, tissue fans, wooden spoons, etc. I didn’t know what I would do as a sign in book, but figured a book for her library signed by guests would be great but wasn’t sure which book. I happened to walk into a Hallmark just to see what they had and literally the first book I found was about fashion and a little girl — it was fate! The guests had a great time decorating the onesies and enjoyed the photo booth and props. The venue provided awesome service and delicious food! It was a great day and she was definitely showered with love!

I like the ideas, however, next time, make sure the cake decorator is a lot better. The entire top rim of the cake was missed. Could have used another row of the ruffle.
Hi! Were did you find the flamingos that are in the centerpieces?
@Frances actually the cake decorator did a great job.. it was during transit that it suffered the damage.
@Toni.. the flamingos are from oriental trading =)
