PARTY DETAILS, as told by Hanna

This Monsters Themed 1st Birthday Party was for a sweet little man Ryder.  His mom wanted to throw a party that was fun, cute and modern, yet incorporated some of the Korean 1st Birthday traditions.   One Sweet Day came up with a monster’s themed party that incorporated very bright yet modern hues of orange, green, blue and purple.  There were 3 table set ups: (1) the main table and (2) the “Monster Bites” dessert table, and (3) the photo and “doljabi” table.

The 2-tiered main table displayed the awesome monsters birthday cake and the rice cakes in the color scheme.  The background was adorned with a crepe paper backdrop, which was made by OSD using crepe paper attached twine.   The rice cake is a traditional Korean dessert that is usually placed on the baby’s 1st birthday table.

The “Monster Bites” dessert table had a variety of baked goods including cupcakes, macarons, cake pops and monster cookies all provided by the wonderful Jessica Moon of a Cupcake Story, as well as different candies to accommodate the color scheme.

The photo and “doljabi” table displayed photos of Ryder’s 1st year.  The “doljabi” is a traditional Korean event that takes place during the baby’s 1st birthday celebration.  Items are laid down on the floor and the baby is placed on the floor to go grab any of the items which in turn is telling of the baby’s future.   We don’t know how much of this Koreans actually still believe, but it is a fun tradition that is never missing from a Korean 1st Birthday celebration!  Ryder ended up choosing the pencils, which means he’s going to be a scholar.

All in all, the party was a great success thanks to all the vendors listed below!

Adorable! Desperately searching for the small pedestal frames used to spell his name? Do you know where I can find?
