New Party Sneak Peeks + I’m Really Tired.

Quick Jump To » Comments

Happy Monday! I’m a little delirious today and am going to attempt to do this post in an overly tired mental state… so please bear with me! I had my 7th night in a row of only 3-4 of sleep last night… hence the title of this post and current luggage under the eyes. {Thank goodness I work from home!}

Anyways, it’s really been bothering me that I haven’t been able to post for you as often as I’ve planned to/wanted to lately – due to a seriously insane January. There are sooo many great real parties in the pipeline that I’m dying to share with you as soon as humanly possible {and I think I just found some help in that area!}. But I wanted to at least give you a little sneak peek of some of the stuff that’s been in the works over here lately, so you don’t think I’ve just been slacking off on posts to lay on the couch, eat bon-bons, and watch chick flicks all day. =)

oscars party ideas

First up is a peek at the new Oscars Party theme that Sonny & I shot late last night {above}. Lots more to come on this one when the full post goes live on Sunday. The bold black & yellow palette made designing the paper elements for this one so much fun!  All of the stationery will be available for free download when the full party posts – patterns, labels, napkin wraps, & more…

Next up is an event that I’m co-hosting with Arbor Mist in NYC on Friday. Loving this color palette too! Here’s the inspiration board:

Lots of free printables coming with this one too. And I mean LOTS! Paper patterns, napkin rings, favor tags, invitations, round tags, stem tags, and more. I already previewed a few of the printables on our Facebook page, but here’s the teaser again for those of you that you didn’t see it there:

Whenever I’m designing custom paper elements for a party, I like to use Photoshop to do digital mock-ups of them “in use” at a place setting to make sure they really will work well together. This always helps alleviate some of the extra stress that I always feel when doing out of town events because it’s harder to do a lot of prep work ahead of time.

These elements are all the rough draft – the final place cards and menu designs are a little different, and the “real” blingy pears are going to be embellished with ribbon and clear/green rhinestones now – but this is the general idea!

Taking a red eye flight from San Diego to NYC on Wednesday night for a bright & early 5am arrival into JFK. Fun, fun! Hoping it really is possible to sleep on all-night flights. Maybe a pre-flight night cap will help. =) On the bright side, looks like there will be decent weather in NY on Thursday & Friday, so as long as the tail end of the big storm that’s called for on Wed doesn’t affect our flight {friend coming with me}, it looks like we’ll be all good with the weather!

Anyways, back to the grindstone. 12 page client brochure due today along with several pages of the brand-new HWTM site we’ve been working on… More to come soon though – on all of this and lots of other things, including the wonderful Operation Shower event in San Diego last week…thanks for your patience!

I’m so impressed by all that you do! And I think you post wonderful things so frequently! As the mom of a toddler, and a work-at-home graphic designer, I feel your pain of sleepless nights. Kudos to you!

I hope you don’t have any connections in the midwest, especially the notorious ORD in Chicago! We’re getting one of the biggest blizzards in history Tue-Wed!

Is this full post live yet?

    • jenn s. February 8, 2011 at 6:10 am

      Hi Amanda –
Not yet… we’ve had a few issues that have caused them to delay a bit – but the Purple/Green printables are coming later today, and the Oscars Party printables should be available for download by the end of the week. If you need them sooner LMK and I can email them to you. :)

Will the purple/green printables go under the DIY and Downloads section? I’m not seeing them and have been anxiously awaiting them. :) Thank you.

      Hi Elicia!
You can download theme here for now: https://www.scribd.com/

We’re trying to post the printables along with the recap of the event, but there were over 300 photos to go through so it’s taking a while. Almost there! In the meantime, at least you won’t have to wait any longer :)
